Incomplete Roman cast copper-alloy solid cylindrical object, probably a toggle. The cylinder is decorated with a series of grooves running around the object. The object is worn but there are slight traces on the reverse of the object where a loop would have been attached and this corresponds well with wear which has flattend the object on the opposite side at this point. this type of wear will have occurred as the toggle button was passed through a loop. This object has been dated broadly to the Roman period c.AD 43-410. Dimensions: Weight 9.16g Length 19.37mm Diameter 9.3mm.

Copper alloy Thimble. Length c.20.7mm, diameter 16.9mm, weight 3.78g Quatrefoil on the top of thimble. Non- spiral punch marks, not machine made, base has deteriorated leaving a frayed edge. Almost straight sided with domed top. The rim is damaged. There is a groove around the rim. Small circular indentations in horizontal rows (not a spiral). Quatrefoil on the top formed by four touching circles. Probably 15th-16th century.

Cast circular lead seal matrix, personal, 13th century. The central device is an octofoil with a central star and eight radiating sub-triangular 'petals' within a plain line border. The inscription reads +S'PRVNL'.FILIE WL'AM[...] (the P is barred, perhaps indicating an abbreviation) - "the seal of Prunl daughter of William [...]". The daughter's name is a form of Petronella which has a number of varients including Purnelle (pers comm Irene Szymanski). Lead alloy lion mount. Relief moulded circular mount of lion's head, similar to those on samian mortaria. There are the remains of two iron wires set into the mount - one through the centre, from side to side; the other apparently curving through the centre of the mount from top to c.3/4 of the way down. These wires were presumably for attachment. Possibly Roman, probably 18th century. Diameter (including remains of iron wire) 32.20mm, diameter (top to bottom, not inc iron wire) 30.28mm, thickness 13.48mm, weight 55.38g.

Copper alloy cased medieval mirror measuring 42.2mm in length and 30.19 wide. The case is almost complete with the hinge rivet still intact. One of the three lugs for holding the mirror closed is now broken. The casing is decorated one both sides with double lines of opposed punched triangles. Inside the case are traces of corrosion, this may also contain some cement for the glass. The case is 8.17mm thick and weighs 13.74 grams.
