An oval, gilded, copper alloy Roman plate brooch, with one decorative stamped zone in a lattice pattern, round the central cell. Decorative inset missing. Silvered on reverse. Damage to the catchplate. Pin broken, spring intact. dating to the 3rd - 4th century A.D. See Mackreth, page 110, plate 107, nos. 10867. 14749. 'The Gilded series'.  Length 21.34mm, width 16.98mm, thickness (inc. spring/pin) 9.90mm, thickness (not inc spring/catchplate) 3.12mm, weight 3.51g.

Roman dolphin brooch with enamel cells. Hinge mechanism, wings rolled to secure bar. The pin still moves slightly but is broken. Each wing is decorated with two narrow grooves running at an angle from the pin to the ends. The top half of the bow is decorated with three rectangular cells which are all decorated with an incised diagonal cross, and the middle one appear to contain traces of red enamel. Roman cast copper alloy Hod hill brooch, 1st century. The hinged pin on an iron axis bar runs through a "tube", this head tapers in towards the bow. There is then a transverse ridge which runs above a sub rectangular plate with a central longitudinal ridge. There is a collared knob on either side of this plate. The bottom of the bow is broken off. Weight 3.42 grams. Thickness c.2.74mm. Length 23.23mm. Width (accross knobs) 24.22mm, (accross head) 13.58mm, (accross bow) 6.22.

Roman enamelled cast copper alloy East Brigantian type dragonesque brooch, incomplete, second half of 1st century AD. The upper bi-lobed terminal is undecorated and attached to the expanded middle area. The freely moving sheet pin is typical of the type with the loop formed by simply bending over c. 1.5 times. The expanded middle area is decorated with five champleve enamel cells - triangular red cell, rectangular blue cell, rectangular red, rectangular blue, triangular red (most of the enamel is missing from this last cell). Fragment of Roman copper alloy plate brooch with orange enamel weighing 2.68 grams and measuring 26.09 mm in length. Probably a 2nd century umbonate plate brooch. Part of the outer edge of the sub-circular (hexagonal?) brooch only. The edge is decorated with outward pointing cells of alternating orange and ?white enamel. There is a broken loop projecting from what would have been the top edge of the brooch. On the reverse is a pin hinge which protrudes by 3.88mm. A Roman cast copper-alloy Trumpet brooch measuring 43.19mm in length and weighing 9.62 grams. The pin is hinged and the pin loop remains although the rest is broken off. There may have been a chain loop at the top of the head, although there is now just a small knop. There are two raised lines around the lip of the trumpet head which measures 14.25 mm in width. On the bow three transverse lines lead to the knob which has eight mouldings, four in a cross in the centre and the further four in the space of each quarter.
