An oval, gilded, copper alloy Roman plate brooch, with one decorative stamped zone in a lattice pattern, round the central cell. Decorative inset missing. Silvered on reverse. Damage to the catchplate. Pin broken, spring intact. dating to the 3rd - 4th century A.D. See Mackreth, page 110, plate 107, nos. 10867. 14749. Rose and orb type, issued by Hanns Krauwinkel II.The obverse depicts three crowns, alternated with three lis, arranged around a central rose with six heart shaped petals. Reverse motto reads GOTES SEGEN MACHT REICH (God's blessing brings riches) type. Reference: Mitchiner (1988) no 1555 - 1556. Diameter 21.73mm, weight 1.40g.

Roman dolphin brooch with enamel cells. Hinge mechanism, wings rolled to secure bar. The pin still moves slightly but is broken. Each wing is decorated with two narrow grooves running at an angle from the pin to the ends. The top half of the bow is decorated with three rectangular cells which are all decorated with an incised diagonal cross, and the middle one appear to contain traces of red enamel. Copper alloy Thimble. Length c.20.7mm, diameter 16.9mm, weight 3.78g Quatrefoil on the top of thimble. Non- spiral punch marks, not machine made, base has deteriorated leaving a frayed edge. Almost straight sided with domed top. The rim is damaged. There is a groove around the rim. Small circular indentations in horizontal rows (not a spiral). Quatrefoil on the top formed by four touching circles. Probably 15th-16th century.

Incomplete Roman cast copper-alloy solid cylindrical object, probably a toggle. The cylinder is decorated with a series of grooves running around the object. The object is worn but there are slight traces on the reverse of the object where a loop would have been attached and this corresponds well with wear which has flattend the object on the opposite side at this point. this type of wear will have occurred as the toggle button was passed through a loop. This object has been dated broadly to the Roman period c.AD 43-410. Dimensions: Weight 9.16g Length 19.37mm Diameter 9.3mm.

Roman cast copper alloy Hod hill brooch, 1st century. The hinged pin on an iron axis bar runs through a "tube", this head tapers in towards the bow. There is then a transverse ridge which runs above a sub rectangular plate with a central longitudinal ridge. There is a collared knob on either side of this plate. The bottom of the bow is broken off. Weight 3.42 grams. Thickness c.2.74mm. Length 23.23mm. Width (accross knobs) 24.22mm, (accross head) 13.58mm, (accross bow) 6.22.
