Cast copper alloy finger ring. 18th century in date. Voided decoration consists of crosses divided by two double lines, and a line design within a box (possibly flowered pattern). There is a damaged bezel which remains as a knop with a trace of gold gilt around it. This gilt can also be seen at various points around the hoop. There is no inscription.
Rings from this period are generally referred to as 'fairground rings' and may have been bought from small traders at fairs or markets (Bailey 1997 page 30).

Cast copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, Western Group), cf. Mackreth 2011, 5.a1.Plate 49. There is triangular openwork at the catchplate end of the bow. The catchplate has three decorative equidistant line ridges on the reverse. At the foot there is a small semi circular knop projecting upwards from the bow.
