Possible whetstone of unknown date. It is sub-oval in plan with rounded edges. It is a rounded oval in cross-section also with all edges rounded. It is made from a brown-grey stone. There are linear grooves on all the surfaces, possibly caused by sharpening tools. It is difficult to say that this is definitely a whetstone as natural stones could be used for this purpose without much working to make them suitable, this appears to be in that group.

Two iron nails of uncertain date. The shafts have rectangular cross-sections and narrow away from the head, they are both broken before the terminals. 2 small rolls of lead sheet, unkown date and function. The upper one (in the image) has a weight of 11.3g, is 36.73mm long and has a diameter of 10.30mm. The lower one (in the image) has a weight of 11.4g, is 31.19mm long and has a diameter of 9.41mm. The Romans did have curse tablets which consisted of writing a curse on a small piece of lead sheet and then rolling it up before offering it to the gods, many have been found in the spring at Bath. Jet bead, of uncertain date. It is sub-circular in plan with a central circular hole. The edges are rounded. Lindsay Allason-Jones of Newcastle University has looked at this item and confirmed that it is jet. However she comments that it is impossible to date a generic bead of this type when found out of context, it could have been made in any time from the Bronze Age onwards.

Ring (from harness?) Cast copper alloy circular ring, with flat upper and lower faces, and facetted edges, giving it an almost hexagonal cross section. This object could have been used as a harness fitting, but it is impossible to be sure of its function. Parallels: Rings like this could be put to many uses, and are found on sites of all periods, so it is impossible to be certain of an Iron Age date for this find. Roman bow brooch with some blue and orange enamel remaining. A derivative of a Wirral/ trumpet type bow brooch. This is an unusual variation and has some nice detail remaining. The bow is very pronounced and the body of the brooch is quite short. The main body of the brooch is complete although it has broken before the foot. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Dragonesque brooch. This type of brooch is essentially Celtic in design but is Roman made and continued to be made until the middle of teh 2nd century AD. They are an entirely British type of brooch (Hattatt; 1982; 152). The brooch has a raised surface and a flat back. Two of the heads remain, there would have been three originally. Both the heads are broken, the hole (which represents the eye) is incomplete on both. The semi-circle central part of the brooch represents the body of the dragon and has a circular perforation.

Copper alloy cast reversed fantail type of Roman bow brooch. The bow of the brooch is complete and the catchplate is still present. The pin was on a spring mechanism held by a rearward hook over the chord. The hook is still present but the pin and the spring are missing. The brooch has a mid-bow double flange. The bow narrows to a small rounded foot which is separated from the bow by 2 lines around its circumference.
