Cast copper alloy mis-cast of a scabbard chape, Post-Medieval in date. It is uneven at both ends and is sub-triangular in plan, being 15mm wide at the narrower base and 33.5mm at the top. The uneven edges are due to bubbles in the metal. The chape is almost completely solid with an uneven interior again due to bubbles within the metal. It should have been hollow if successfully made with a smooth outer and inner surface. This is an interesting find as it may indicate manufacture on or close to the area.

Cast copper alloy part of a Medieval stirrup The fragment is sub-rectangular with an expanded front plate. The reverse being much narrower. It has been cast in one piece and there would have been two extensions from the outer edges of the base to form the stirrup. The front is decorated with 2 raised lines around the edges which overlap at the corners to form square designs. A very similar example can be seen in Read, p. 90-1, fig.547 (1998). See HAMP-46A675 for another example of a fragment of this style of stirrup

Impression of the obverse of a coin of Tacitus (275-6) in lead. Obverse: [ ]ITVS AVG (retrograde); [ ], draped and cuirassed bust left (would have been right on the original coin). Note, the beard is clearly visible on the chin and neck. It is not possible to determine if the coin used for the impression was a base silver coin with a radiate crown or a gold aureus with a laureate crown. This is a most unusual piece. Because the piece is made of lead it cannot be a mould for making a forged coin in another metal. Nor is it likely to have been a mould for the produ…

Cast copper alloy disc brooch dating to the 2nd century AD. It is incomplete having some of the disc missing and the pin. It would have been oval in plan when complete. It is probable that it would have been gilded but none of this now remains.
