Cast copper alloy Polden Hill type bow brooch dating to the second half of the 1st century AD. The pin and most of the catchplate are missing. It is very worn and has some corrosion. The wings of the brooch are semi-cylindrical and the backwards facing hook is still visible. The rest of the spring mechanism has been lost to corrosion. The bow rises high from the wings with a humped appearance similar to the Dolphin type. The bow tapers to a point at the foot.

Cast copper alloy Dolphin bow brooch dating to the 1stcentury AD. The brooch is mainly complete but the pin and most of the catchplate are missing. The bow tapers to a point. At the head of the brooch the bow has 2 vertical incised lines as decoration. The axis bar is hollow and semi-circular. This find was recorded at a rally so it is still dirty.

Cast copper alloy Roman disc brooch with 8 peripheral lugs dating to the 2nd century AD. The brooch is quite corroded and incomplete. Most of the lugs are now missing, 1 remains fully, 4 others partially. The lugs are decorated with a ring and dot pattern, in the centre of the lug. The main disc is flat and circular in plan. The back is plain and the pin and catchplate have been lost. On the front the brooch is decorated with a scalloped central circle. There are 8 scalloped segments. Cast copper alloy Colchester derivative, Polden Hill brooch (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 3, Plate 46). The brooch is fairly corroded over the whole surface and has a brown/green mixed patina. The pin is missing although some of the coils remain, corroded into the axis bar. Most of the catchplate has gone. The axis bar is short, the hump of the bow is quite pronounced.

Cast copper alloy Roman bow brooch, trumpet type, dating to the mid 1st-2nd centuries AD. The head is semi-circular in shape and would have had a loop on but this has broken off. The bow widens in the middle then tapers towards the foot. In the middle of the bow are 5 moulded ribs where there is usually an acanthus. The pin was hinged but has broken off. Some of the catchplate remains but the foot of the brooch is missing.

Fragment of a headstud brooch. The top part remains, the bow having broken just below the headstud which appears to have some moulded decoration rather than being hollow. The head loop has broken off. Below the headstud at the start of the bow, lozenge shaped decoration is visible. The pin mechanism was a hinge, the bar was mostly inside the tube of the head and has now broken off.

Roman bow brooch, a hinged Continental Hod Hill variant with thick white metal coating dating to the first century AD. The white metal coating is only on the front (visible when worn) surfaces. It is possible it was meant to look like silver and so make the brooch seem more expensive. It is a hinged example, the pin is missing. The wings are short and quite angular. Small fragment of a copper alloy Roman umbonate brooch dating to around the 2nd century. Only a small irregular part of the brooch remains. The front face is decorated with triangles of enamel/glass, some of which remain. Red and blue fragments remain but there may have been more colours. On the back there is just a small raised line which would have been either the catchplate or pin mechanism.

Cast copper alloy Roman umbonate brooch dating to the 2nd century AD. The pin is missing now but would have been hinged. The front face is decorated with a version of the sunburst patter. The sun's rays are reduced to a geometric pattern of triangles, the outer circle having blue enamel, the inner alternating blue and red. A deep channel runs aruond just inside the perimeter. It has a chain loop (at the top, which is now broken) and 3 additional knobs.

Cast copper alloy headstud bow brooch dating to from the Flavian period through to the late 2nd century AD. The headloop has broken away. The spring is missing and the case has squared ends. Above the headstud is a rectangular raised ribbed panel. The headstud has a ribbed edge. There appears to have been no enamel on the headstud or bow. The bow is quite thin and tapers to a globular foot. It is a very large example and so quite unusual. The catchplate is also very big for this type of brooch.
