Cast copper alloy fragment of a late medieval/post-medieval bell. Only half of the bell remains, the clapper is missing also. The top is flat and hexagonal when viewed from above. It has a circular perforation, presumably for an attachment loop. It looks as though the bell has been mis-cast as the top is not level. The lower part of the outside surface of the bell is decorated. It has two raised lines around the circumference. Below the second are two sets of 3 incised vertical lines.

Edge damaged flint flake from the the prehistoric period. It is roughly triangular in section and in plan. It is made from a grey flint. The dorsal face has a central ridge which is broken where the flint is notched. The ventral face is smooth although slight cnchoidal ripples can be seen. One long side of the flint has been broken and chipped, probably when it has been in the ground. This is likely to be a bi-polar flake which would explain the different fracture lines.

Lead conical spindle whorl from the Medieval period. It is circular in plan with a circular perforation. It is very worn and corroded and no decoration remains. These spindle whorls are very hard to date precisely as the same form remained in use for a long time.

A carved stone head, in a light grey coloured stone, possibly limestone. It is carved only on one face with a near-triangular face, triangular nose, heavy almond-shaped eyes and rather gash-like mouth. The other faces are rough and not carved into, it appears that this stone was made to go into a wall. This head was found under the floorboards of a house with two 19th century medicine jars (LVPL-5587A5) and so it is likely that it dates to around that time. Two 19th century brown stoneware jars which have a slip or glaze. They both taper towards the top where there is a shallow rolled lip. One is smaller than the other and the smaller one has lost some of its glaze/slip. These jars were found under the floorboards of a house with a stone carved face see LVPL-554BD1. Noramlly these objects would be too late to record on the PAS database but due to their association with the stone head they have been recorded.

Complete copper alloy cast crotal bell. The rumbler is still inside and the attachment loop is present. The loop is square with a semi-circular hole. The bell is divided into two by a raised median ridge. The upper half has two circular sound holes on opposite sides. The lower half has a sound slot with circular terminals. Cast copper alloy Langton Down bow brooch. The pin is missing but the catchplate is present. The bow is flat and tapers to a point with no footknob. It has 2 vertical ridges running down its length. The wings are tubular and contain the spring for the pin. There is a gap in the centre of the wings where the pin should be. This type of brooch dates to the 1st century AD (Hattatt; 80-81).

A copper alloy mount cast in the form of an acorn. The mount is quite worn all over and corrosion has removed some of the original surface. The mount is convex with two (broken) lugs on the reverse for attachment. The upper and lower halves are divided by a raised median line. The lower part of the acorn has a cross-hatched pattern and a small stalk at the base. There is a small rounded protrusion at the top of the acorn. Similar examples can be seen in Read's book (2001; 37, no.332)

Cast copper alloy bell. It is conical in shape, with 6 sides meaning the base is hexagonal. The attachment loop has been cast integrally and is circular. Each face has a vertical row of three ring and dot pattern. The bell is broken unevenly before the base and the clapper is missing. This style of bell usually dates to the early Medieval period c.1000-1200. A similarly shaped one was found in a late 10th century deposit from York (Mainman and Rogers; 2000; 2599).

Copper alloy cast double loop oval buckels with moulded floral decoration on the loops. This type of buckle dates to c.1550-1650. It has moulded decoration at each end of the strap bar in the form of oval knops. At the end of each loop is a cinquefoil moulding. Similar examples can be seen on page 65 of Whiteheads book (2003).

Cast copper alloy fragment of a Post-medieval drawer handle. The fragment that remains forms a T-shape. The horizontal bar is where it would have attached to the drawer. This has one rounded end, the other end has broken where it met the drawer. The vertical bar widens in the middle before narrowing to form a cylindrical section. The front face is decorated with a floral design. The back of the handle is plain. The handle has corrosion all over, the back especially has been affected. The handle has broken very early so only a small fragment remains.

Rolled lead sheet which has formed a pencil/stylus type object. The lead has been rolled to form a cylindrical shape with a pointed end. The two edges can be seen where they haven't quite met, leaving a groove. The pencil has been bent in the middle. This is a proto-pencil dating to the late medieval period which could have been used for marking paper or cloth.

Gold posy ring from the late 16th to early 17th centuries. Treasure find- 2007-T156. The British Museum curator report- 'Small gold finger ring, slightly out of shape. Foliate design on the external surface and inscribed inside + DON + DAMI, followed by a sprig. Very slight traces of black enamel are visible on both the inner and outer faces.'
