It has a design in relief on the front in the form of a lozenge with a loop at the top and some detail inside (now unclear due to wear). It is plain on the reverse although has some marks, possibly from the plough. It is slightly bent, again possibly from the plough.

There are stamped symbols on the front face which are At 12 o'clock, a sword, representing i St.Paul meaning it was made in London. At 3 o'clock is a crowned G, meaning it was one of the King Georges. At 6 o'clock is a coffee pot/ ewer meaning it was made by the company of founders. Cast copper alloy Early Medieval weight, late 9th- 10th century in date. Hiberno-Norse/ Viking in style. It is circular in plan and has been cast. It has decoration on the upper face which has been cast integrally with the weight. It consists of a triskele motif which is concave. Within the arms of the triskele are small crescents. Cast lead weight from the Medieval- Post Medieval periods. It is tear-drop shaped and the extended end has a circular cross section. There are some scratches on the surface, probably plough damage. It weighed more than 200g and so my scales could not weigh it. Generic weights such as this are difficult to date precisely when found as stray finds.

A complete lead weight or gaming piece, inset with glass, from the Early Medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) period (AD850-1000). It is conical in shape with a wider base. The diameter is 11.35mm at the top and 13.58mm at the bottom. The top has a domed stone set in which is a dark blue. Despite looking like a button, these weights were and are used to weigh down the hems of curtains, and perhaps also skirts. Lead weight, possibly Roman in date. It is conical in shape with a rounded top and slightly irregular. The flat edge is the upper face and this has a central depression- possibly where an attachment loop once was. The surface is irregular all over due either to corrosion or poor casting of the weight. It was too heavy for my scales which go up to 200g. It has a length/height of 43.36mm and a diameter of 41.70mm.

Two lead weights, Post Medieval in date. They are sub-rectangular in plan, being rounded and slightly narrowed at the top end. They each have a circular perforation at the top end, presumably for attachment. The base is flat but there is a concave rectangular slot underneath. It is thought this sort of weight was used for fishing but they could have many purposes. Both weights were too heavy for my scales- which go up to 200g.
