Fragment of late Medieval- Post Medieval pottery which has a blob of lead on the inside.
It is a base sherd of a vessel made from a cream coloured fabric. There are traces of a darkish glaze on the outside bt it is quite abraded. The lead is on the inside and does not appear to be a pot mend as it is sat on the surface and does not go through the pot. It is odd, perhaps just an accidental spillage.

Cast lead lid from a small pot, probably Post Medieval in date.
It would have been circular when complete but it is missing one part and has also been bent out of shape. It has some cracks also.
The upper face is decorated with a design in relief. It consists of a central circle with lines radiating out to the edge. Inside the circle (although not clear on the image) is face with pointed oval eyes, a long nose and a small pursed mouth. It is probably meant to be the sun.

Rim sherd of a Medieval vessel.
The sherd which remains suggests it may be from a bowl type vessel as it appears the rim protrudes at a 90 degree angle outwards. The fabric is a grey colour with some irregular inclusions which are not clear due to mud. It is a hard fabric which suggets it was fired quite highly.

It is semi-circular in plan with a raised lip along the straight edge. It is thinner at the outer edge of the curve. It is slightly curved at the edges. There is no decoration on either face.
Sally Worrell the Finds Advisor for Roman finds has seen an image of this item and comments that it is probably a vessel/strainer lid but that she has some reservations as it does not fit in with the usual examples.
