Copper alloy mount in the form of human face, probably Medusa. It measures 46mm wide and 53mm long. It is mostly complete with just one edge being slightly broken.
The features on the face have been quite crudely incised. The hair is parted centrally and extends all the way down the face. The hair appears to be plaited and there is a torc/decorative band around the head at the top.
The mount is hollow and the back has the remains of two studs for attachment. There is corrosion on the back which has made the surface uneven.

Copper-alloy probable mount of probable medieval date, possibly a 'binding strip'
In its present form it is S-shaped. It appears to be a mount with three symmetrical arms, one of which retains a circular tab with tapering knop. The tab has a circular perforation now filled in with corrosion but it is probable that it was hollow, which probably took a nail, pin, or rivet for attachment. The end of one arm has broken, leaving an open semi-circle of the terminal. The majority of the third arm is missing.
It can be compared with binding strips illustrated in Goodall (2012, 139; fig.…

Cast Cu Alloy strap fitting or mount of possible Medieval date.
One face of the mount is plain (probably the back) whilst the other (the front) is decorated. It has been cast integrally and is not complete.
In the centre of the mount (on the decorated side) is a square strip with a circle on either side. The square has diagonal incised lines as decoration which do not cover the entire square.
Each circle has 2 rivet holes through the centre. One circle has 2 strips coming off in a v-shape which are broken off very quickly. The other circle also has 2 strips but these 2 make a…

Cu alloy cast mount probably of late Medieval date.
A Cu alloy mount which is almost star shaped. It is cast and has been bent so it does not lie flat.
The outer edges are decorated with an alternating pattern of reverse crescents and rectangular lobes with rounded ends. Each of the lobes has a circular perforation at the end which would have been used as attachment. One of the reverse crescents has only one point as the other has broken off.
There is a central circular perforation which is 16.10mm in diameter.

Cast Cu alloy mount of medieval date. The mount is circular in shape and has part of the stud remaining on the back. It is cast integrally and has some red and white enamel still present. The front is decorated and enamelled. In the centre is a six pointed star, each triangle contains 3 lozenges arranged in a trefoil shape, the rest of the triangle is filled by white enamel. In the centre of the triangle is the head of either a gorgon or lion facing forwards. The rest of the mount face is decorated by red enamel but the pattern is unclear due to wear. Due to the size of the mount it w…

Copper alloy bar mount, medieval in date. A bar mount with a circular central lobe and a circular rivet hole at the top. This mount is not complete, there is only one rivet hole above the central circular lobe. There would have been another rivet hole at the bottom of this lobe but it has broken off. The lobe has a pattern of squares in relief across its surface. This type of mount would have decorated a leather strap and a similar example can be seen in Egans book, Dress Accessories (1991; 213/4, no.1161), which dates to c.1350-1400, although they would have been in use for a long…

Copper alloy mount of Roman date in the shape of a lion.
The mount is incomplete, having broken just before the hind legs. It is made of solid copper alloy and has been cast.
The face is facing forwards and shows the lion with his mouth open. The eyes, nose and details of the mane have been picked out. Behind the mane the mount narrows and is smooth on all surfaces. It widens again where it reaches the hind legs. The break here is uneven and appears old.
This would have been a mount on some piece of furniture and is most likely to be Roman.

Copper alloy lozenge shaped mount which has been cast. The back of the mount has the remains of an off-centre, attachment stud which is recessed in a hollow. On the front is a central boss with a lion/hound passant in. Around the outside of the central boss is some writing which reads- ...ICHLAND ...IN...RERS R... LI...OL on each of the four sides. The style of the writing suggests this mount dates to the post-medieval period.

Copper alloy early post-medieval dress hook imitation made from one piece of sheet metal.
Consists of 3 semi-spherical hollow domes connected by a central flat area. In the central piece is a circular perforation. Each dome is decorated with 3 sets of ring and dot decoration.
The hole probably had a backplate with bar and hook rivetted on which has now broken off. It is also possible that this was an unfinished frontplate.
A similar example made from lead, but not as complete can be seen at SOMDOR-01C437.

Lead alloy mount, probably a furniture mount.
The mount is circular in plan and has been cast. Some of the edges have been lost either through corrosion or by being broken in use or whilst it was in the ground. The front face is decorated, the back is plain. The decoration consists of a slightly raised central circular boss surrounded by a ring of twisted wire effect. Around this is a line of pellets. The back is free from decoration and the remains of two rivets can be seen on the outer edge.

A copper alloy mount cast in the form of an acorn. The mount is quite worn all over and corrosion has removed some of the original surface.
The mount is convex with two (broken) lugs on the reverse for attachment. The upper and lower halves are divided by a raised median line. The lower part of the acorn has a cross-hatched pattern and a small stalk at the base. There is a small rounded protrusion at the top of the acorn. Similar examples can be seen in Read's book (2001; 37, no.332)

Copper aloy mount in the shape of a bird, probably dating from the Medieval period.
The mount is incomplete. The bird is looking to the left. It has a rounded head with a short beak. The body is quite long and appears to reach a point at the end which is the tail. The body is not complete, only a triangular piece of it remains. There is a small circular perforation in the breast of the bird. This would have been where the mount was attached.
