Gold Post Medieval finger ring, uncertain date. A plain gold band, with a slightly raised central ridge on the outside. The ring has been squashed out of shape but originally but have been round. The band is thin, and flat on the inside. Judy Rudoe (British Museum) has seen an image of this ring and is happy that it is undiagnostic, so cannot be assigned a pre-1700 date. As such it does not constitute Treasure.

Cast copper alloy Post Medieval finger ring, with inscription on inside. The finger ring is rounded with a D-sectioned hoop. It has decoration on the outside, which was probably cast in. It consists of symbols, such as a sunburst etc. The inscription is on the inside of the hoop and appears to read 'Colie llevell'. This could refer to a person, or a place, it is not clear. Finger rings such as this can be found in gold, silver and copper alloy in this period. They are used as posy rings and mourning rings, with inscriptions of names, or phrases.

Cast copper alloy finger ring, Post Medieval in date. It is plain with no decoration on either the bezel or the hoop. The hoop is D shaped in cross-section. It has slightly angular shoulders leading up to a flat bezel, a rounded rectangle in plan. This may have had decoration on but there is nothing visible now. The surface may have been treated, perhaps coated with a 'white metal' such as pewter or silver but corrosion has made it unclear.

Cast lead Post Medieval finger ring, a decade ring, dating to c.1600-1800. It is circular in plan with a projecting flat oval shaped bezel (diameter 10.60mm x 8.69mm) and ten small projecting knops around the outer circumference. The bezel is plain but on other examples there are designs and letters. This appears to be a lead version of the more usual copper alloy rings of this type. Decade rings were used for the rosary- to repeat the Ave and Paternoster prayers. A fragment of a silver finger ring which is almost completely flattened. Both ends are broken and are uneven. It is plain on the inside with incised decoration on the outside. This consists of a line at the top and the bottom, with a floral/vegetal motif in the centre. It could be that the rest of the ring would have had an inscription on but this is now missing. Cast copper alloy finger ring with enamel on the bezel. Post Medieval in date, it is of a type called signet rings. . The bezel extends above the hoop of the ring. It has red enamel on the top, this has corroded and distorted any pattern or design. The hoop is D-shaped in cross section and the surface is uneven due to corrosion. The bezel is oval in shape and measures 12.49mm x 9.6mm. The ring is also sub-circular measuring 18.87mm x 21.86mm.

Heavy gold signet ring, finely engraved with a coat of arms, oriented vertically, within a dotted border. Images of the signet ring were examined by Dr Clive Cheesman, College of Arms, who has provided the following information: 'The ring shows the coat of arms of a family called Prestwich. The coat of arms consists of a shield and, displayed on top of a helmet, a crest. The shield is quartered, the first and fourth quarters showing a design consisting of a mermaid, reputedly granted in the mid-16th century to a family called Prestwich of Hulme, Manchester. Copper alloy Post Medieval finger ring, 18th century in date. It has ac circular hoop which is flat all the way around. The outer face is decorated with vertical lines all around the diameter. On the inner face there are three lions stamped, this is presumably the makers mark. The Norfolk FLO had a case where a copper alloy finger ring had been stamped with a lion and the word GOLD, presumably to try to fool someone into thinking it was a gold ring. The marks on this finger ring may be something similar.

The hoop is rectangular in cross-section and the same width/thickness all the way round. On the outer face are vertical lines splitting the hoop into sections all around. Gold mourning ring. It has been squashed slightly out of shape. It has a central raised ridge running round the outside of the ring, in the centre. This is triangular in cross section and there is a small break at one point, possibly where the bezel once was? On either side of this ridge there was originally black enamel but most of this is now missing, only fragments remain. Inside the ring is an incised inscription reading 'Live well and die well' followed by TS stamped inside a square.

Cast copper alloy Post Medieval finger ring. Late post-medieval or early modern copper alloy finger-ring. There is engraved decoration on the outside of the hoop which is still very crisp and clear: a row of leafy snowdrops. Four others have been recorded on this database:LANCUM-3DF1F3, LANCUM-C8F8D5, LANCUM-CF9042 and LANCUM-D83FF7. It is possible that the snowdrop motif was a common one on finger rings in the later 18th/19th century and that finger rings displaying this decoration were both made from more expensive silver and also cheaper copper-alloy.
