Fragment of Viking-age 'hacksilver' consisting of part of a silver ingot which is cut at both ends. It is roughly rectangular in plan and is a shallow D-shape in cross-section. Finds of hacksilver in England generally date from the late 9th or 10th centuries.

Fragment of Anglo-Saxon/ Viking hacksilver which is cut at both ends. It is roughly rectangular in plan and is a shallow D-shape in section. A clear testing nick can be seen on one edge, which is contemporary with the object.

The find consists of an irregular, ovoid lump of silver, convex on one side and deeply pitted underneath; length, 19 mm. It is undiagnostic and undatable, so does not qualify as Treasure under the stipulated criteria of the Treasure Act.
