Base of a Samian ware cup, probably a Dragendorff 33 form, dating to c.50- 230 AD.
Less than half of the base remains with some of the stand. A small fragment of the wall of the cup is left.
Stamped on the inside with a makers mark 'MAXA..' This could be the mark MAXAXIVS, a stamp known to have have been used on pottery produced in Heiligenberg, now in Germany, between 100 and 140 AD. However it is not certain that this is what the stamp says.

Copper-alloy Roman oval plate brooch with a large carnelian intaglio inset, probably 3rd century.
The intaglio is slightly convex and the gem has a length of 24.25mm. The intaglio depictis Hercules being offered a wreath by Victory. It is deeply cut and very detailed. Hercules stands fully to the front and is nude apart from the nebris over his left arm and the crown-type head wear. He is resting his right hand on a club.
