Copper alloy Roman peltate chape, dating from the 2nd-3rd centuries AD. It has been cast in one. It is complete with the front and back plate being identical. The design is peltate shape with two openwork petae on the face. The chape has been squahed slightly and so the top edges are nearly touching and one arm has a crack in. Similar examples were found at Housesteads and South Shields Roman forts and these items are usually related to military activity. Cast copper alloy Roman toilet implement, 1st-2nd century in date. It has a broken loop at the top before a beaded collar. The stem is circular in section and narrows towards the end. It is bent half way down and the end could be broken although it is worn so difficult to tell. This would probably have been part of a set hanging from a chatelaine with other items.

Copper tin alloy Roman finger ring, It has a raised circular bezel which is decorated with grooved lines forming a grid. The shoulders are slightly keeled and are decorated with a grooved triangle pointing away from the bezel on each side. The hoop narrows in width away from the shoulders but thickens on the other axis. The precious metal content of the find is below 10% and therefore it falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

Cast copper alloy Roman hand pin, Cool Group 7. This type of pin has a hand holding an item, either an egg, pomegranate or apple. This example is probably an egg. The hand is holding the egg at the end of its fingertips and is held straight up from the wrist. The egg has a flat base which appears broken. It has been decorated with grooved criss-cross lines forming a lozenge shaped lattice pattern. The wrist is rectangular in cross section and has a hollow at the base, presumably to attach it to the pin.

Copper alloy mis-cast Roman lion head mount. It is sub-circular in plan with a protrusion at the base. The reverse is flat and has a pitted uneven surface. The front is the face of the lion is relief and this detail has been affected by the mis-cast. The top protrusion is the nose and the lower is meant to be the mouth. The detail for the mane and eyes has been lost in wear, corrosion and the incomplete casting.

Cast copper alloy fragment of a Roman trumpet brooch dating to c.75-175 AD. Only the head and the upper half of the bow remains, the pin and its mechanism, whether spring or hinge are missing and the bow has broken just at the central acanthus style moulding. The trumpet shaped head is slightly broken and uneven, on the reverse is it hollow and the base of a hook, to hold the pin and its mechanism is still present. The bow has a circular cross section and widens at the acanthus style moulding which is a very crude version.

Cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating to c.75-175 AD. The brooch is worn and the pin is missing. The head has become pointed at the top and on the reverse are the remains of a loop which would have held the pin and hinge mechanism. The bow has a circular cross section and widens at the central acanthus moulding before narrowing again towards the foot which is now missing. Some of the catchplate remains but most has broken off.

Copper alloy and enamelled Roman disc brooch dating from the 2nd century AD. It is mostly complete with just the pin missing and some wear around the edges. It is circular in plan and slightly domed. The front is decorated with inlaid enamel in a triskele motif. The outline of the triskele is in raised copper alloy and there is a central circular dot in copper alloy. The inside of the triskele is infilled with red enamel. The outside field is two-thirds black and one-third blue.

Cast copper alloy miniature terret ring from the Roman period. It is D-shaped in section with the reverse being flat and the front slightly domed. It is sub-circular in plan, measuring 19.02mm by 20.89mm in diameter, with the ring widening at the top then narrowing again towards the bottom. At the base is a small sub-triangular moulding which is raised on both front and reverse with a central groove.

Fragment from a copper alloy Roman headstud brooch, c. 75-175 AD. The wings are cylindrical, the top of the pin still remains. It is quite worn and corroded and the headstud is visible only as a raised dot at the top of the bow. The bow narrows towards the foot but is broken half way down. It is a circular example with the upper face of the lid decorated with enamel. This consists of a central circle of red and the outer section in blue. The circular tab also has red enamel. Underneath this tab has a small knop which which fits into the bottom section as a catch. The base has a tab with a small hollow into which the knop from the upper tab sits.
