Cast copper alloy decorative stud from the Roman period in the form of a dolphin.
This is in the form of a dolphin viewed from the side with a flat base which has a single stud at the base. The stud has a circular cross section and is placed centrally under the body of the dolphin. The dolphin's nose protrudes out in front of the head and is lower than the head, ending in a rounded point. The eyes are visible as small circular grooves on each side of the head. The tail extends upwards from the body in a fan shape.

Cast copper alloy Roman furniture fitting. It is a bell shaped stud with a rectangular handle/shaft set on the top. The stud has a small central protrusion which is like the clapper of a bell. There is a small moulded collar between the stud and the base of the handle The handle has a small circular hole at the top.

Cast copper alloy and enamel Roman plate brooch, a skeumorphic type in the form of a sandal, dating to the 2nd century AD.
It is mostly complete with just the pin and most of the enamel decoration missing. The brooch is flat and in plan is pointed at one end, has a narrow waist in the middle and is rounded at the other end. There is a loop at the rounded end. On the reverse of the brooch is a double pin lug at the rounded end, with the hinge part of a copper alloy pin surviving between them; and a damaged catchplate at the pointed end.

Part of a Roman copper alloy chatelaine.
It is the top part which remains, missing the lower section where the toilet implements would have hung from. At the top is a circular loop, set perpendicular to the rest of the chatelaine. There is then a cylindrical collar, of three sections before the main part of the object. This is sub-rectangular in plan with grooved decoration on one face. Copper alloy ring, probably a finger ring, Roman in date.
It is formed by a thick, circular cross-sectioned copper aloly wire being curled round into two rows with slightly rounded terminals. Both terminals also have cross-hatched decoration, similar to the more delicate copper and silver Roman snake finger rings.
Although this seems very large for a finge ring, there are some similar examples on the PAS database.
A similar ring formed from a single turn can be seen in Lindsay Allason-Jones and Roger Miket's 'Catalogue of small finds from South Shields Roman fort,' 1984: pp 125-…

It is incomplete the loop having broken. The head is disc-shaped and has cast decoration in the form of a central dot surrounded by two concentric circles. There may have been some enamel in these recesses but no traces now remain. On the reverse of the head the bar which leads to the loop projects from the centre, then bends at 90 degrees to continue on. It widens towards the loop end. It is complete and has a circular raised bezel. This is plain with no decoration. The shoulders are slightly angular and with a grooved triangle with the point facing away from the bezel and regular grooves on both edges. The hoop away from the bezel and shoulders is sub-circular in cross section and thicker at the bottom.

Copper alloy Georgian fob seal.
The seal appears to be made from pewter or a similar metal, it is on a hinge at the base of the handle and can still swing. The handle curves up to meet at the top where there is a circular loop, set perpendicular to the seal. There is a design on both faces of the seal. One has a male bust facing right. It is not representing a specific person. The other side appears to be a coat of arms or something similar

Copper alloy sheet pin head from a Post Medieval pin, 16th century in date.
It is sub-spherical and hollow, the head having broken away from the shaft of the pin. The head has a strip of copper alloy which runs over the top from the base back to the base. The base has a circular hole, which is where it would have attached to the pin. On each side is a rose design, possibly the Tudor rose which has been punched into the sheet.

A cast copper-alloy clapper bell of Post-Medieval date.
It is complete with the exeption of the iron clapper that is missing due to old breaks and the loop which has broken away. The bell has a slightly everted rim with two grooved lines above. At the top (both inside and out) there is iron corrosion where the clapper and handle/loop have broken away. There is a circular hole on one side just above the rim.

Cast copper alloy finger ring with enamel on the bezel. Post Medieval in date, it is of a type called signet rings. .
The bezel extends above the hoop of the ring. It has red enamel on the top, this has corroded and distorted any pattern or design. The hoop is D-shaped in cross section and the surface is uneven due to corrosion.
The bezel is oval in shape and measures 12.49mm x 9.6mm. The ring is also sub-circular measuring 18.87mm x 21.86mm.

It has been cast with the loop integral to the button. The button is sub-circular in plan and domed. The decoration is cast in relief. The decoration consists of a figure-of-eight with an oval dot inside each loop- running horizontally. There is a circular dot at the top and bottom, on the centre line. In the rest of the field are various horizontal and vertical raised lines.

It is complete although the clapper is missing. It is spherical with a raised median ridge. On the top half are two circular holes on either side. On the lower half are two circular holes joined by a linear slot. The lower half of the bell is decorated with raised lines in the form of a face.

It is part of a two disc cloth seal with the two discs being pressed together. They are broken on all edges, originally having been circular in plan. The front disc has a stamped design in the form of a hanging sheep. There is a legend around the outside although most is now missing it reads ...ED ....ROSS*
A hanging sheep or the golden fleece is the symbol for Leeds and it seems likely that this is a seal from a company/ person involved in the cloth trade in Leeds. Possibly someone named Ross.

It would originally have been circular in plan but around a third is missing, leaving it almost semi-circular. It is not entirely flat, being bent out of shape, but it could have been concave originally. Around the edge are circular rivet holes at even distances from each other. Some of these have rivets still attached, four remain. These have sub-circular heads and solid, circular shafts.

It is square in plan with rounded edges. It has a separate spindle (made of iron) which still has the pin and part of the plate attached. The frame is decorated all over with grooved lines. The two vertical edges having simple lines from one edge to the other. The horizontal edges having a criss cross pattern. In profile the buckle is slightly curved. This sort of buckle dates from about 1650 - 1750 AD. Buckles in a similar styles can be seen in Whitehead.

Side and slightly down-turned neck of a rowel spur, the neck is bifurcated (the gap is now filled with mud) and the terminals widen. The arms (so far as survives) have straight D-section sides, one is broken close to the neck(39.8mm), the other is complete (89.39mm). The complete arm ends in a circular terminal (diameter of 10.54mm) which has a circular stud attached (diameter of 13.33mm), where the spur would then have attached to the boot. There does not appear to be any decoration on the surface.

A hooked tag or hanger, probably from a sword belt. It is mostly complete, the body comprising of two rounded segments, the hook at one end, the other widening out into an openwork section which has now broken. At the end near the hook are two circular perforations. In the second section, near the middle of the body are another two circular perforations. It is mostly complete and is filled completely with mud. It has a square attachment loop with a circular hole in the centre. The bell has a raised median ridge. On the upper half are two circular sound holes on opposite sides. The lower half has two circular sound holes joined by a linear hole. One of these sound holes has broken slightly.
There are traces of decoration on the upper half in the form of grooved lines running from the loop. The surface of the bell is corroded and has patches of green and brown.

It is sub-circular in plan, having a serrated edge all the way around. The front has been decorated with an 8-pointed star, with lines radiating from the centre to each point, it has been engraved/scratched onto the surface. The reverse is plain.
There are hundreds of different designs of lead tokens and they were used for a long period of time for various purposes such as gaming, weighing etc. As stray finds they are very difficult to date precisely.
