Incomplete cast copper alloy late Roman amphora shaped strap end dating from the late 4th century AD.
The body is sub-oval with a knop with a moulded collar at the terminal. It is decorated with ring and dot motifs on both sides on the main body. One side has a single motif in the centre. The other side has nine motifs laid out in three parallel rows. The strap end has broken just as the main body ends and the top edge appears scalloped. This would have led into two openwork circles which would represent handles.

It is rectangular in plan and is incomplete with both long edges being broken and uneven. The front face is enamelled with a central line of 4 lozenges filled with yellow enamel. On either side of these lozenges are triangles filled with red enamel and on the outside of these is a row of larger blue triangles. The edges are then broken but it appears that there is a further row of red triangular cells on the outside edge.
