Fragment from a copper alloy Roman headstud brooch, c. 75-175 AD. The wings are cylindrical, the top of the pin still remains. It is quite worn and corroded and the headstud is visible only as a raised dot at the top of the bow. The bow narrows towards the foot but is broken half way down. It is flat and is decorated on the front with two vertical lines which presumably ran the length of the bow.

Cast copper alloy and enamel complete Roman seal box. It is complete with both the lid and the base. The pin holding the two together has been lost so they can separate. It is a circular example with the upper face of the lid decorated with enamel. This consists of a central circle of red and the outer section in blue. The circular tab also has red enamel. Underneath this tab has a small knop which which fits into the bottom section as a catch. The base has a tab with a small hollow into which the knop from the upper tab sits. Part of a cast copper alloy Roman belt slide. This would originally have been rectangular in plan with a rectangular attachment loop on each end. Around half now remains, one end, with one loop. The front is decorated with intergally cast decoration leaving hollows for enamel. At the end are two circular dots each with a concentric circle inside, with different coloured enamel. Base of a Samian ware cup, probably a Dragendorff 33 form, dating to c.50- 230 AD. Less than half of the base remains with some of the stand. A small fragment of the wall of the cup is left. Stamped on the inside with a makers mark 'MAXA..' This could be the mark MAXAXIVS, a stamp known to have have been used on pottery produced in Heiligenberg, now in Germany, between 100 and 140 AD. However it is not certain that this is what the stamp says.
