Chain mail armour fitting Rosette-shaped gilded copper alloy boss, set onto iron chain mail. The boss is in the form of a moulded eight-petalled flower. In the centre of the flower is a concave circle with a raised central pip, perhaps a setting for enamel or a stud. The front surface, including the central circular setting, has been gilded. This piece is incomplete, missing one of its petals. Fragments of iron chain mail remain, adhering to the reverse of the boss. Chain mail armour fitting Rosette-shaped gilded copper alloy boss, set onto iron chain mail. The boss is in the form of rosette, mounted onto a slightly larger circular boss, the outer face of which is decorated with moulded vertical lines. In the centre of the rosette is a ?drilled circular indentation, which may once have held enamel. The upper surface was originally gilded, although little now remains. Fragments of iron chain mail adhere to the reverse. The mail is extremely corroded and extends only slightly past the edge of the boss. Parallels: M.118 and M.119 from the related 1…
