On one face this takes the form of a six pointed star, at each angle there is a straight line, then in each section created by these lines is a circular raised dot. The other face is split into five sections by lines radiating from the centre, in each section are three circular raised dots.

Pottery spindle whorl, Roman- Medieval in date. The whorl has been formed from a piece of pottery cut from a vessek- probably when the vessel broke. It is circular in plan with a central circular perforation. It is flat on both sides with rounded edges. The fabric of the pottery is black on one side and brown/grey on the other. It is not clear if the black is the actual colour of the fabric or is due to wear/dirt. The fabric is smooth and has few inclusions. One side has diagonal lines from the centre to the edge, creating triangular cells, inside of each of which there is a circular pellet. The other side is slightly less clear, almost looking like a repeating pattern of VIVIVI all the way around. There are examples of spindle whorls with writing and pseudo-writing on, this could be another one.
