Cast copper alloy Early Medieval buckle dating to c. 900- 1100 AD. It is D-shaped in plan with a narrowed strap bar. The terminals of the loop are zoomorphic in form with the strap bar connecting two heads of animals, their mouths are open, almost as though they are biting the bar. These are stylised animals seen on various objects from this period and could be dogs/dragons/dolphins, it is difficult to see. They have a rounded head with inset eyes and an elongated snout. Cast copper alloy Medieval buckle with a sheet plate. The buckle is oval in plan with a slightly pointed outer edge which has a groove where the pin would have sat. The pin is still present but does not quite reach the edge of the frame. The plate is formed from a rectangular sheet of metal folded in half over the buckle frame. There is a hole at the frame end where the pin sits. The plate is held together by a circular rivet half way down.

Cast copper alloy annular Medieval buckle. The frame is circular in form and D-shaped in section with a pin constriction to one side. This holds in place a copper-alloy pin formed from a sheet folded over the central bar, it narrows slightly towards the end which just touches the outer frame. Cast copper alloy Post Medieval buckle. It is square in plan with rounded edges. It has a separate spindle (made of iron) which still has the pin and part of the plate attached. The frame is decorated all over with grooved lines. The two vertical edges having simple lines from one edge to the other. The horizontal edges having a criss cross pattern. In profile the buckle is slightly curved. This sort of buckle dates from about 1650 - 1750 AD. Buckles in a similar styles can be seen in Whitehead.
