A fragment of a late medieval signet ring. Most of the hoop is lost, but the bezel remains. It is oval and contains the device of a merchant's mark. The ring fragment is silver-gilt and dates from the sixteenth century. Dimensions: length 21 mm, width 8 mm. Silver finger ring with a lozenge shape in relief at the bezel. On either side is a triangle in relief pointing away from the bezel. The decoration is probably intended to imitate the design of a gemstone set between raised shoulders. The hoop is even in width and thickness all the way around and has a rectangular cross section.
