Cast copper alloy Roman button and loop fastener. Wild Class Va, dating to the late 1st- 2nd century AD.
It is incomplete the loop having broken. The head is disc-shaped and has cast decoration in the form of a central dot surrounded by two concentric circles. There may have been some enamel in these recesses but no traces now remain. On the reverse of the head the bar which leads to the loop projects from the centre, then bends at 90 degrees to continue on. It widens towards the loop end.
