Blue opaque glass diamond-faceted bead of uncertain date.
It is 8mm long and 5mm in diameter. It is rectangular with facetted corners at each end. There is a central cylindrical hole running the length of the bead.
It is possibly Roman or Early Medieval in date but it is impossible to be certain when found as a stray find. Guido’s book on Anglo-Saxon beads (1999, 50-51) says they could be Roman but some are also found in 6th century (and later) graves.

The bow has hollowed out squares all the way down to the foot which would have been filled with enamel but which are now empty. The foot consists of a double semi-circular moulding. It is mostly complete but the pin is missing. The head is sub-circular and has a loop on the reverse which would have held the spring. At the top of the loop is the remains of a lug/hook which would have held the spring in place.

Cast copper alloy Roman headstud brooch dating from c.75- 175 AD.
It is quite a small example, at 32.17mm long and is incomplete. It would have had a headloop, the base of which can be seen whilst the rest has broken off. The wings are short and square ended and one has broken off. The brooch would have been hinged, part of the axis bar remains but the pin is missing as is the catchplate.
There is a small raised circular stud at the top of the bow which has a grooved X on. Below this the bow begins to taper towards the foot which is just a rounded point. The bow is decorated wit…

Cast copper alloy Roman decorative fitting, probably harness, of Taylor and Brailsford (1985) Type 3. It would have been lozenge shape in plan when complete. It is incomplete having missing the lower quarter. The two side quarters are taken up by the hollow circular domes which have a groove around their bases. The two domes are linked by a small rectangular section. The upper and lower quarters have a triangular perforation before a triangular domed section which is also hollow on the reverse. The lower of these has broken off.
