Copper alloy fragment, probably from a Medieval chafing dish. It is a W shape in plan with both ends being broken, they would probably have extended upwards to form a loop, this would then have attached onto the dish. The fragment is square in cross-section with slightly bevelled edges and file marks can be seen on the surface. Chafing dishes were domestic utensils made of metal or earthenware for holding burning charcoal or other combustible material. This was then used to cook food or keep it hot at the table.

Lead Medieval pilgrims ampulla, c.1350- 1530. It has the common scallop shaped rounded base which narrows to the neck. The scallop design is carried on on one face with grooved lines coming in from the scalloped edges. The other face has no scallop decoration but has the raised letters IC for Iesu Christ (Jesus Christ), reflecting the religious nature of these items. The neck widens slightly towards the top, which is now broken. The handles are broken and mostly missing with just the base of one visible close to where the neck meets the scallop base. The ampulla has been flattened a…

Fragment of late Medieval- Post Medieval pottery which has a blob of lead on the inside. It is a base sherd of a vessel made from a cream coloured fabric. There are traces of a darkish glaze on the outside bt it is quite abraded. The lead is on the inside and does not appear to be a pot mend as it is sat on the surface and does not go through the pot. It is odd, perhaps just an accidental spillage.
