Measurements: Max length: 15.5mm; weights: 4.8g and 3.4g (total 8.2g) Metallurgy: XRF analysis of the surface of these objects confirmed that they are composed of high-tin copper alloys (around 30% tin), with traces of zinc. Both also contained low levels of gold and silver. In the case of the smaller droplet, the gold content was higher, at around 10%.

In plan the chape has a semi-circular lower half with a small extension knop at the base. It is decorated with incised lines, giving a scallop effect which meet at the centre in a semi-circular hollow. Above this are two circular holes, one to the left and one to the right of this hollow. The upper half is narrower, and sub-rectangular, with crenellations at the top edge. Near the top is a heart-shaped hole.

The symbol on the seal is a masonic symbol, The Square, Compasses and Letter 'G'. This is one of the most common symbols of the Freemasons. There are varying theories as to what it represents. The arms of the seal form a robust openwork design with floriate decoration, terminating in a circular attachment loop, set perpendicular to the seal.

The fragment is severely mis-shapen. Parallels: The form of the lips is very similar to many of the terrets in the related 1843 hoard, but the fragment is too distorted to find a secure parallel. Terret ring fragment Fragment of a cast copper alloy terret ring, consisting predominantly of a rectangular-sectioned strap bar with strap bar guard, delimited on either side by disc-shaped terminals. The strap bar guard is triangular in cross-section, decorated along the apex with a line of indentations. Strap fitting/ Mount Cast copper alloy strap fitting, broken on one side. This fitting takes the form of an open ring with openwork S-shaped scroll filling, flat in cross-section. The inward spirals of the S-shaped scroll are solid circles with circular indentations, now heavily worn, perhaps once designed to hold enamel. Copper alloy head of a Roman trumpet brooch, dating to c. 75- 175 AD. It is a large, and slightly unusual variety and unfortunately is quite corroded. It is a sprung type, with huge coils, four complete and two which are broken. The wire then threads through the coils. The central broken coil would have extended to the pin but that is now gone. Cast copper alloy strap fitting, probably a strap junction, from the Post Medieval period. It is circular in plan (37.511m x 32.37mm) and slightly domed. . The upper surface is decorated by four sets of curved lines, in pairs, coming from the centre of the fitting, to the edge. There are also two circular perforations, one of which is now filled up with corrosion. It has two prongs on the reverse, which are quite 6.90mm wide, project 9.12mm down, and are sub-triangular in plan. These probably fitted onto the strap, or another plate.

Roman copper alloy expanding bracelet made of a single piece of circular sectioned wire, 3rd century in date. The ends of the wire are overlapped and then each is wrapped around the main loop of the bracelet giving an adjustable catch. The ends taper from the point they start being wrapped around, one end is wrapped around five times, the other three. It is slightly out of shape, measuring 93.54mm x 76.56mm in diameter. Crummy (1983) illustrates a very similar bracelet (page 39 no.1601) from a third century context in Colchester.

Blade fragment of a Bronze Age axe, c.2300 BC- 800 BC. The blade edge is curved, and appears complete. It has broken before the shaft, having a rectangular cross-section at the broken edge where it is thickening. The axe has a dark brown patina which is slightly patchy due to corrosion. As so little remains it is not possible to pin it down to a certain type of axe, or a more specific period within the Bronze Age.

Cast copper alloy Medieval buckle with a sheet plate. The buckle is oval in plan with a slightly pointed outer edge which has a groove where the pin would have sat. The pin is still present but does not quite reach the edge of the frame. The plate is formed from a rectangular sheet of metal folded in half over the buckle frame. There is a hole at the frame end where the pin sits. The plate is held together by a circular rivet half way down.
