Record ID: DUR-AE46C0
Object type: MOUNT
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Copper alloy fragment, possibly of a Medieval mount. It has a pointed loop at one end, set perpendicular to the body. This appears to be the original terminal, the opposite end is broken. Next to the loop is a small neck before an oval flat section which then narrows to a small, circular sectioned shaft, broken at the end, which led to the rest of the object.

Object type: CLOTH SEAL
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Lead cloth seal, 16-17th century in date. It is part of a two disc cloth seal with the two discs being pressed together. They are broken on all edges, originally having been circular in plan. The front disc has a stamped design in the form of a hanging sheep. There is a legend around the outside although most is now missing it reads ...ED ....ROSS* A hanging sheep or the golden fleece is the symbol for Leeds and it seems likely that this is a seal from a company/ person involved in the cloth trade in Leeds. Possibly someone named Ross.

Cast copper alloy pendant or mount, late Medieval to Post Medieval in date. It has a large circular loop at the top, the pendant body would have been lozenge shape when complete with scalloped edges but some parts are missing. There is decoration in relief on the front face which is now obscured by wear and corrosion, it appears to have been symmetrical with some zig-zag lines. The reverse is mainly flat with a off-centre circular dent, possibly where a stud was attached, this is unclear.
