Cast copper alloy cosmetic pestle dating from the 1st century BC to the early 2nd century AD.
It is the pestle from a set and would have fit into a mortar. It has anintegrally cast loop at one end and curves gently to form a shallow crescent. It narrows to a point at the terminal. It is thickest in the central part. There are some small scratch marks near to the loop which may be intentional but it is not clear.
It has a smooth, even brown patina all over.

Cast copper alloy Medieval seal matrix from c. 1200- 1400.
It is complete with an off-centre handle wneding is a pointed terminal. There is a central circular hole in the top as an attachment loop. Below the loop is a doubel moulded collar. The handle is hexagonal in section. The seal is circular in plan and is a 'h' with a palm frond next to it.
The surface has possibly been silvered although it is now mostly worn away and there is some surface corrosion so this is difficult to be certain of.

Cast copper alloy Early Medieval buckle dating to c. 900- 1200 AD.
It is D-shaped in plan with a narrowed strap bar. The terminals of the loop are zoomorphic in form with the strap bar connecting two heads of animals. These are stylised animals seen on various objects from this period and could be dogs/dragons/dolphins, it is difficult to see. They have a rounded head with inset eyes and an elongated snout. The strap bar is worn and very narrow at one point, the pin is missing.
The buckle has an even patina of reddish-brown.

Cast copper alloy dress hook from the Post Medieval period.
Read Type Class E, Type 3. c.f. no.370 p.99 (2008). It is an openwork design with an equal armed cross with a central pellet. Each quarter then has four openwork circles. The main body is circular with a beaded/ scalloped edge. It has a rectangular loop at the top and the hook curves behind the main body from the base.

Cast copper alloy Early Medieval buckle, dating to the 10th-11th centuries.
It has a plate cast integrally to the frame with a split end, imitating strap ends of this period. The plate is sub-rectangular narrowing slightly towards the frame. There is a hole at the base where the pin is fitted. The pin is formed by a strip of copper alloy hooked through this hole. The buckle frame is square with a triangular extension at the end away from the plate. The outside is decorated with punched angular dots in a line around. Cast copper alloy Late Medieval- Post Medieval toilet implement.
It has a rounded scoop on one end and a flattened double pronged end (presumably for a nail cleaner) at the other. The shaft is bent slightly before the scoop and there is a small groove just before. The shaft is circular in section.
The item has a reddish-brown patina.
Although many of these types of item are Roman the patina and style of this example suggests a Late Medieval- Post Medieval date. A similar example has been recorded on the database as YORYM-O271BO.

Cast lead weight from the Medieval- Post Medieval periods.
It is tear-drop shaped and the extended end has a circular cross section. There are some scratches on the surface, probably plough damage.
It weighed more than 200g and so my scales could not weigh it.
Generic weights such as this are difficult to date precisely when found as stray finds.

Cast copper alloy ring, Medieval- Post Medieval in date.
It is sub-circular in plan and possibly penannular originally. Both terminals are narrowed to a point, these now slightly overlap.
The ring has a dark green patina with lighter patches.
Rings such as this could have been used for many functions over long periods of time and so are difficult to date precisely when found out of context.
