The hand is holding the egg at the end of its fingertips and is held straight up from the wrist. The egg has a flat base which appears broken. It has been decorated with grooved criss-cross lines forming a lozenge shaped lattice pattern. The wrist is rectangular in cross section and has a hollow at the base, presumably to attach it to the pin.
