Lead Medieval vessica shaped seal matrix. Legend reads- 'S'IONIS . FIL W...R' 'Meaning John, son of W....' Central motif appears to be a pattern of three dots at the base with a possible flower formed from three swirled lines within a border. On reverse is the remains of an attachment loop at the top. There is also a raised fleur-de-lis decoration which fills the entire reverse.

Early Medieval, Viking, lead weight. It is circular in plan and flat with a copper alloy plate set on the top face. The copper alloy setting looks like a gilt bronze Irish disc, possibly a stud with the lug removed. In the centre of this is a small circular red stone or perhaps glass. This glass forms the centre of the decoration with three swirls, almost peltate in design coming from the centre. There is then a raised outer rim. In the spaces between are small grooved lines.

Lead cloth seal, 16-17th century in date. It is part of a two disc cloth seal with the two discs being pressed together. They are broken on all edges, originally having been circular in plan. The front disc has a stamped design in the form of a hanging sheep. There is a legend around the outside although most is now missing it reads ...ED ....ROSS* A hanging sheep or the golden fleece is the symbol for Leeds and it seems likely that this is a seal from a company/ person involved in the cloth trade in Leeds. Possibly someone named Ross.

The front has been decorated with an 8-pointed star, with lines radiating from the centre to each point, it has been engraved/scratched onto the surface. The reverse is plain. There are hundreds of different designs of lead tokens and they were used for a long period of time for various purposes such as gaming, weighing etc. As stray finds they are very difficult to date precisely.

Lead Medieval seal matrix, c.1200- 1400. It was originally vesica shaped but has broken almost in half. It is also bent so that the edges now curve slightly downwards. The central motif appears to be either a corn ear or another plant. The inscription reads 'S'INCH....' So it is a person seal, unfortunately not enough of the legend can be made out to work out who owned it. On the reverse, near to the top is a small rounded loop, now filled with mud.

Circular lead weight from the Post Medieval period. It is circular in plan and flat. It has a central circular hole and then four circular holes around it, forming an X-shape if they were joined up. On the front the central hole had a groved circle around it which cuts through the four outer circles. In between each of the outer circles are two short grooved lines, radiating from the centre, forming a cross. On the reverse there are some traces of these lines but not to the same degree as on the front.

Lead cloth seal, 17th century in date. It is a four-piece seal, mostly complete. Only two faces retain the stamps, those on the large circles (the inner discs). The connecting strip is still attached at the end, as it was folded in half. The stamps consist of the arms of Britain on one face, slightly off-struck. On the other side is 'CAR/SAY/166...'. This refers to the fact it was a seal on kersey cloth, this was made in various places in England, Yorkshire being one of those. Unfotunately the last year of this seals date is missing. There are examples of spindle whorls with writing and pseudo-writing on, this could be another one.

Cast lead ship/boat, Post Medieval in date, some sort of toy. The ship is flat on the base so that it sits on a surface. It has its sails unfurled and they are curving to indicate wind from behind the ship. It is a little worn but it appears there is a person sat/stood at the rear of the boat, possibly steering it. This is a toy of some sorts, possibly a version of a shy cock, where the aim would be to knock it over, or possibly just a toy by itself. Lead was used to make toys from the late Medieval period onwards and there is a huge variation.

Without any markings on it is not possible to date this example more closely as cloth seals were used over a long period of time.

Lead Post Medieval sack seal. Complete circular seal with two circular discs and the folded attachment loop. One disc has a pineapple with a plume on top in relief. The other side has a central circular depression, over which is an A in relief with an annulet to right and below. The A stands for Augsburg, Germany. Seals from the fustians of Augsburg are among the most common and widespread of all recorded imports in England according to Egan. This example is similar to nos. 308-10 in his book 'Lead Cloth Seals and Related Items in the British Museum'.

Lead Medieval spindle whorl. Complete circular spindle whorl which is biconical and has a central circular perforation, now filled with accretions from the river. It has decoration in relief on both sides which consists of lines radiating from the centre to the edge, splitting the area into five sections. Four of these have three dots, one has two, it appears this was a mistake and all sections were meant to be the same.

A complete lead weight or gaming piece, inset with glass, from the Early Medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) period (AD850-1000). It is conical in shape with a wider base. The diameter is 11.35mm at the top and 13.58mm at the bottom. The top has a domed stone set in which is a dark blue. This record was edited and the date of the object reassessed following reappraisal by Prof. Julian Richards. Lead papal bulla of Pope Innocent III, 1198-1216. It would have been circular in plan but it has been broken and so is irregular. The obverse is much more worn than the reverse. Both sides have a beaded border. The obverse of the bulla contains the legend INNOCENTIVS PP III, PP standing for 'Pastor Pastorum' or 'Shepherd of Shepherds'. The obverse has a border of pellets. On the reverse can be seen depictions of Saints Peter and Paul beneath an inscription reading SPASPE (an abbreviation standing for St. Paul and St. Peter). Lead Medieval toy jug. It is missing the handle but otherwise is complete and unusually for this type of object has not been squashed flat and so still retains its original shape. It has a bulbous lower half with a flat base. It then narrows to a thin circular-sectioned neck. The base of the handle still remains at the junction with the neck and the lower half.
