Flint implement, possible side scraper (unfinished), probably Neolithic- Bronze Age in date. It is made from a grey flint with lighter and white patches. It has some of the cortex remaining along the left side (when viewed in the photograph). The base appears to have been the bulb of percussion, the top end is broken. The right hand long edge (when viewed in the photograph) has been retouched and so this appears to be the edge meant to be used. It has a notch taken out in the middle.

Flint implement, possibly an unfinished leaf-shaped arrowhead, Neolithic- Bronze Age in date. It is made from a grey flint with white patches. The flat base is the bulb of percussion, after that it narrows towards the tip of what would have been the point of the arrowhead. One long side has started to be shaped and is curved. The other long side is still angular and mostly unworked.

Flint flake with signs it had some work to try to make it into a leaf-shaped arrowhead. Neolithic to Bronze Age in date- c.3500- 1500 BC. It is made from a toffee coloured flint with some white inclusions. There is small piece of cortex still remaining on the upper left-hand corner (when viewing photograph). Flint blade, Neolithic in date. It is made from a toffee coloured flint, with some darker patches. It is sub-rectangular in plan with irregular edges. The bulb of percussion can be seen on the bottom (as per the photograph). In cross section it is triangular at the lower end with a central ridge running one third of the length. A flake has then been taken off this blade meaning the blade has more of a trapezoidal cross section. It thins towards the upper end. Retouch can be seen all along the left edge (when viewed from the front, as per the photograph), with some retouch v…

A group of 5 small flint blades, possibly Mesolithic in date. They are all sub-rectangular in plan and have broken at either one or both ends. It is possible they are Mesolithic microliths. Ranging in size from 39.78mm x 10.22mm to 18.41mm x 12.81mm with a group weight of 7.0g. It is difficult to date flint precisely when it has been found out of context as a stray find, so a cautious date has been assigned to these. Their size suggested to Dr. Young that they could be Mesolithic.

Flint awl on a primary flake, dating from the Mesolithic period through to the Bronze Age. The outer face is almost entirely covered in the cortext surface. The piece has a triangular terminal at the top (as the photograph) which has been retouched along both edges to form the point. The lower end is the bulb of percussion and as such is wider and rounded at the base being 9.71mm wide compared to 3.7omm at the top. On one edge a triangular section has been taken out, it is difficult to tell if this was deliberate or is the shape of the flint naturally. It is difficult…

Three flint flakes dating from the Mesolithic period through to the Bronze Age. They all show signs of recortication (a physical change to the flint caused by acid rain). They range in size from 39.02mm x 23.82m to 29.66mm x 17.97mm with a combined weight of 16.2g. It is difficult to date flint precisely when it has been found out of context as a stray find, so a broad date has been assigned to these.
