Copper alloy and enamel Roman trumpet brooch dating to c.75-175 AD. The base of the bow is missing (along the with catchplate and foot) but other than that it is complete. It is a hinged example, the pin is still intact but it is bent. The headloop is formed by wire, which comes from the axis bar up over the head and is held in place by a plain strip of copper alloy wrapped around the base. Cast copper alloy Roman bow brooch, it appears to be a variant of a T-shaped and headstud type, dating to the late 1st century- 2nd century. It is mostly complete. The headloop is slightly broken, it has been cast integrally to the head. The wings are square-ended with two raised vertical lines on each as decoration. The bow has three vertical ridges on the top, which run together and become two by the foot. The It is a hinged type with the axis bar being held within close wings. The pin is missing just the end point, measuring 26.82mm in length.

It is open in the centre with the four arms connecting the knops being slim and cylindrical. Although it is simple and plain, the patina suggests an Iron Age- Roman date. The brooch has been squashed out of shape, probably whilst in the ground. It has golbular terminals, each with a single moulded collar. One of the terminals appears to have an extra bit of metal, it could be a mis-cast which was not cleaned up. Lead circular decorative stud, Post Medieval in date. It is circular in plan with raised decoration on the front. This decoration takes the form of a central cross, a raised border and four triangular projections into the angles of the cross from the border. Their is also a small raised dot in the centre of the cross. One part of the edge is missing. The reverse is plain but a central line can be seen, a remnant of the casting process. There is the remains of a central stud, which is incomplete.

Cast copper alloy Post Medieval belt fitting. It is a mount, which would have had a loop to attach hanging pieces to the belt. It is a pointed oval shape in plan, with the main body being domed and hollow on the reverse. At the top is a circular hole, where a rivet would have attached the mount to the belt. The lower end is solid, and has a collar made of three moulded horizontal lines. Below this is the remnants of the broken attachment loop which is set perpendicular to the mount.

Copper alloy fragment, probably from a Medieval chafing dish. It is a W shape in plan with both ends being broken, they would probably have extended upwards to form a loop, this would then have attached onto the dish. The fragment is square in cross-section with slightly bevelled edges and file marks can be seen on the surface. Chafing dishes were domestic utensils made of metal or earthenware for holding burning charcoal or other combustible material. This was then used to cook food or keep it hot at the table.

At the base is the start of an extension, this would have probably led to a loop or hook to attach the mount. An incomplete copper alloy trebuchet or tumbrel-type folding coin balance probably dating to the 13th, 14th or 15th century. This type of balance for weighing coins was formed from two arms which pivot in the middle allowing the balance to be opened into a cross shape to be used, or folded flat. One arm would have included an integral pan and weight. Only half of the pan arm survives with the pan half itself missing (it measures 58.33mm in length). The object is 90.40mm long and 6.12mm thick. It is 10.19mm wide at the wdest point and 8.62mm at the narrowest, when measured closed. …

Cast copper alloy Medieval seal matrix from c. 1200- 1400. It is complete with an off-centre handle wneding is a pointed terminal. There is a central circular hole in the top as an attachment loop. Below the loop is a doubel moulded collar. The handle is hexagonal in section. The seal is circular in plan and is a 'h' with a palm frond next to it. The surface has possibly been silvered although it is now mostly worn away and there is some surface corrosion so this is difficult to be certain of.

Large shield shaped lead weight, late Medieval- Post-Medieval in date. It is most likely to be a trade weight. It has decoration in relief on the front and is flat on the reverse. The decoration consists of a raised shield shape leaving a lower border. In this there is a central fleur-de-lis with a design above which is slightly unclear but could be a cross with longer horizontal arms than vertical ones. It was too heavy for my scales whcih go up to 200g.

The outer edge is decorated with a single row of red enamelled dots, some of which are missing the enamel. Cast copper alloy Early Medieval buckle dating to c. 900- 1200 AD. It is D-shaped in plan with a narrowed strap bar. The terminals of the loop are zoomorphic in form with the strap bar connecting two heads of animals. These are stylised animals seen on various objects from this period and could be dogs/dragons/dolphins, it is difficult to see. They have a rounded head with inset eyes and an elongated snout. The strap bar is worn and very narrow at one point, the pin is missing. The buckle has an even patina of reddish-brown.
