A medieval silver-gilt annular brooch. The frame, cut from flat metal, engraved with four heraldic shields placed equidistantly, with a series of crosses between each shield. The pin survives, looped around a constriction, although the end is broken off. Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface of the mercury gilt brooch indicated a silver content of approximately 96%.

An incomplete copper alloy continental plate brooch of the Roman period (c.AD43-125). It is incomplete, consisting of two circles, joined by a linear strip. Each circle is flat and is decorated on the front with a single ring and dot motif. The strip which joins the two circles is decorated with a simple moulded collar at each end and narrows slightly in the middle. On the front face is a triskele motif in relief with the field around filled in with blue enamel. The reverse is plain and flat with the remnants of the catchplate and pin mechanism. Cast copper alloy Roman penannular brooch, a Fowler Type A3, dating to c.100- 350 AD. The brooch itself is complete, although the pin is broken. The brooch has been squashed out of shape, probably whilst in the ground. It has golbular terminals, each with a single moulded collar. One of the terminals appears to have an extra bit of metal, it could be a mis-cast which was not cleaned up. A medieval brooch consisting of a square frame with four lobes, one at the centre of each side. The internal edge of the frame is chamfered and on one side has an aperture into which is inserted the pin. The pin is bent and has a collar of punched decoration. The pin appears at some point to have been separated from the frame of the brooch and has been reattached the wrong way round. The frame too is badly distorted and broken along one edge. Cast copper alloy Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch from the 6th century AD. The side and top knobs are semi-circular and hollow and have been cast integrally to the brooch. The headplate is square with a slightly raised sub-rectangular central panel which runs from the top knob to where the head meets the bow. This panel widens towards the bow. It is a hinged brooch and the axis bar is held in place by wings formed by the upper bow curving over to form a cylinder. The pin is complete but bent half way down. Copper alloy head of a Roman trumpet brooch, dating to c. 75- 175 AD. It is a large, and slightly unusual variety and unfortunately is quite corroded.
