Cast copper alloy 16th century signet ring. It is complete although the hoop narrows at certain points due to wear and corrosion. The bezel is flat with an incised decoration. Often letters are used on these rings but this example appears to be a design, however it is unclear what it is meant to be. The bezel has sloping shoulders down to the hoop.

Roman silver finger-ring of keeled type, the hoop widening to triangular angular shoulders which are decorated by grooved lines running away from the bezel. The ring is mounted with a prominent oval bezel consisting of a blue glass (?) intaglio encased within a box setting. The intaglio portrays Mars kneeling left, holding a shield in front of him and a spear across his body. It is a very fine engraving and the folds in his tunic as well as gathering at his waist can be seen. He has a fold of material draped over his arm. He possibly has a laurel wreath on his head. Cast copper alloy Post Medieval finger ring. Late post-medieval or early modern copper alloy finger-ring. There is engraved decoration on the outside of the hoop which is still very crisp and clear: a row of leafy snowdrops. Four others have been recorded on this database:LANCUM-3DF1F3, LANCUM-C8F8D5, LANCUM-CF9042 and LANCUM-D83FF7. It is possible that the snowdrop motif was a common one on finger rings in the later 18th/19th century and that finger rings displaying this decoration were both made from more expensive silver and also cheaper copper-alloy.

Roman gold finger-ring of keeled type, the D-sectioned hoop widening to sub-triangular angular shoulders with a triangular notch on each edge close to the bezel. Two incised grooves run from where the shoulder meets the bezel to where the shoulder meets the loop on both shoulders, this creates a triangular panel on each shoulder. The central panel of this section is raised to the height of the shoulder edges. The ring has been squashed so it is no longer circular but it is complete. The ring is mounted with a prominent oval bezel consisting of a blue stone intaglio encased within…

Cast copper alloy Late Medieval finger ring. The hoop has a circular cross section and widens at the angular shoulders. The hoop is broken near to the bottom but is complete, just being bent slightly out of shape. Because of this the hoop is not fully circular and measures 27.6mm x 25.71mm. The bezel is sub-oval and flat. It has a design in relief in the centre which consists of a W with an indistinct design above- possibly representing a crown- with two scroll like patterns visible. This type of ring is known as a signet ring and the design could relate to a specific family.

Gold mourning ring. It has been squashed slightly out of shape. It has a central raised ridge running round the outside of the ring, in the centre. This is triangular in cross section and there is a small break at one point, possibly where the bezel once was? On either side of this ridge there was originally black enamel but most of this is now missing, only fragments remain. Inside the ring is an incised inscription reading 'Live well and die well' followed by TS stamped inside a square.
