Part of a coppper alloy sheet scabbard chape from the 16/17th century. It has been bent over on one side. The top edge is straight, the bottom edge is rounded. The curved edge is folded in slightly, this would have been to attach it to the other half. There are 2 rivet holes, close to the top edge, one still has a rivet in. These are also to hold the chape together. The front face of the chape is decorated with an abstract linear motif, possibly representing an arrow.
