Copper-alloy Roman oval plate brooch with a large carnelian intaglio inset, probably 3rd century. The intaglio is slightly convex and the gem has a length of 24.25mm. The intaglio depictis Hercules being offered a wreath by Victory. It is deeply cut and very detailed. Cast copper alloy dolphin bow brooch dating from c. 75-175 AD. It is complete, with the only damage being a slightly bent pin. The wings are cylindrical, holding the axis bar with a central slot for the hinged pin. The bow has a triangular cross section with the point being the centre of the front. The bow is plain and narrows to a point at the foot. The catchplate is complete.

At the top of the bow is a small hook which would have held the spring in place. The bow is slightly humped at the top. It narrows gradually down towards the foot where it ends in a rounded point. The head has been bent to form a sharper angle than the usual curve of the bow. It is a hinged type with the axis bar being encased in an integral cylinder on the reverse of the head. Cast copper alloy Medieval annular brooch. The brooch is D-shaped in cross section, being slightly domed on the upper surface. It is oval in plan with the sides thickening on the curve, before narrowing at the ends. At one end is the narrowed and offest strap bar. The pin is formed from a strip of copper alloy folded over. It is incomplete having broken after just 8.35mm. At the opposite end are four ridges, radiating out from the inside edge to the outside edge. The upper surface is decorated with two lines of irregular concave dots.

Cast copper alloy pin from a Medieval annular buckle or brooch. It has a square cross-section throughout. It narrows to a point at the terminal where a slight groove can be seen, this has been made through wear against the buckle or brooch frame. It is broken at the opposite end which would have been a circular loop to attach the pin to the frame. Only around half now remains. Before the loop is a slight rectangular moulding acting as a collar decoration.

Cast copper alloy lozenge shaped plate brooch from the 2nd century AD. It is lozenge shaped in plan with a rounded projection at each point. It is a hinged type with the top of the pin still sitting in the hinge mechanism, although it has broken just after. The front has a raised edge with millefiori enamel filling it. Around half of the enamel is missing now but red, white and blue were used to create a chequer-board pattern. The red forms the lozenge shapes with diagonal lines, then inside each lozenge are alternating squares of white, blue and red.

Copper alloy brooch, an unusual type of plate brooch, probably dating from the Late Iron Age through to the Roman period. It consists of three circular domes connected together in a triangular shape. Each dome hasa grooved line around its base. There are remains of gilding on the front surface. On the reverse are the remains of a catchplate and a pin mechanism, it appears to have been hinged. It is similar in form to the button and loop fasteners and other domed objcts such as mounts which span the Iron Age/Roman period.

Copper alloy oval Roman disc brooch dating to the 3rd-4th centuries AD (Bayley and Butcher; 2004; 178-9). It is a British type and is gilded with a central setting of black glass. Most of the gilding is still present but it is patchy. The central setting is domed and rises out of the front of the brooch into a point. There is a raised rim around the edge of the brooch and around the glass setting. It could have been hinged or sprung, the pin is missing. The loop for the pin to go through is present but the catchplate is missing.
