I have examined a group of 16 coins reported found at Stapleford, Lincolnshire All of the coins are silver and 14 of them are official English coins, which will therefore be of the traditional sterling standard, over 90% fine metal. Two of the coins are foreign in origin, but are of types found in English contexts quite frequently in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. One is a double patard of Charles the Bold, duke of Burgundy, a coin that from 1469 circulated in England officially as equal to a groat. This was had a fineness of c. 80% silver. Cast copper alloy dress hook (hooked tag) from the Post Medieval period. At the top is the semi-circular attachment loop. Below is the main body which is a sub-circular shape. On the front it is decorated with a moulded floral design consisting of a central flower. The main body narrows towards the hook which protrudes from the base. Just above the start of the hook is a widening which appears to be a floral motif, possibly a 3-petalled flower but it is slightly worn. The hook curves back behind the tag.

Cast copper alloy Post Medieval belt mount. It is a decorative mount with two studs on the reverse, both of which have now been bent. In plan it is sub-triangular with moulded decoration on the front. The upper edge is scalloped, the lower end has a pointed terminal. The decoration on the front consists of a beaded border with a pattern inside this. It is unclear exactly what the decoration is.

Copper alloy fitting of some sort, probably dating to the Post Medieval period It is rectangular in plan but has been bent almost in half. If flat it would measure 54.06mm. One end is broken, the other is rounded and has a circular perforation. One face is decorated with incised lines which form crude X marks.

Cast copper alloy Post Medieval belt fitting or hook. It is drop shaped in plan with a narrow strip protruding from the rounded end which curves round to form a hook. It has broken before the end. At the narrowed end the fitting is bulbous. In the centre of the fitting is the remains of a circular rivet.

Copper alloy rectangular book clasp from the Post Medieval period. It is incomplete, having broken in half. It is rectangular in plan with the complete end widening to a scalloped edge. There is a circle at this end which surrounds a rivet hole. There is another rivet hole which would have been in the middle of the clasp, the clasp has broken here.

Copper alloy rectangular book clasp from the Post Medieval period. It is complete, one end having a narrow curved protrusion to attach it. At the opposite end the clasp widens and the end is scalloped. On the upper surface the clasp is decorated with incised patterns. There is a circle at the wider end which is around a rivet hole. There is another rivet hole in the middle of the clasp.

Cast copper alloy ring, possibly a finger ring, of uncertain date. This ring has a circular cross section apart from a small sectin of c.10mm which is flattened, possibly as a simple bezel. It is difficult to date rings such as this as such simple forms were used for long periods of time. However the patina of this ring suggests it could be Post Medieval in date.
