A fragment of a mottled wear flagon dating to the late 17th- early 18th century. Almost half of the vessel is left showing the shape of the flagon. The fabric is cream and the glaze is a yellow colour on the inside, the outside is browny- yellow. The initials IB have been put on the vessel as a slip. They are most likely to refer to the person the vessel was made for. This type of vessel was often made to order as presents for special occasions. Mottled wear was produced at many sites for example Stoke, Derby, Buckley, Sheffield and South Lancashire. However due to the locatio…

A sub-rectangular fragment of a pottery vessel measuring 72mm by 54mm. It is a rim fragment of a vessel with the rim being lipped. The outside surface is ribbed and there are the remains of a handle base. It has 3 thumb prints in, it would have been pressed to the vessel in this way. This looks like a North West Purple Ware fragment (due to its colour and material), which dates to the 15th and 16th centuries but the sharpness of the manufacturing, especially the remains of the handle suggest it is later, more like 19th/20th century in date.

A sub-rectangular fragment of a pottery vessel measuring 52mm by 45mm. This is a self-coloured ware (the colour of the glaze has been taken from the pot) and is a light brown glazed colour. The fabric is light orange and fairly hard. This type of pottery dates to around the 18th century. It is possible that this fragment is from the lid of a vessel.

Two 19th century brown stoneware jars which have a slip or glaze. They both taper towards the top where there is a shallow rolled lip. One is smaller than the other and the smaller one has lost some of its glaze/slip. These jars were found under the floorboards of a house with a stone carved face see LVPL-554BD1. Noramlly these objects would be too late to record on the PAS database but due to their association with the stone head they have been recorded.
