Description:  A small silver gilt badge or mount cast into the form of a five-petaled rose flanked by antlers. Extensive gilding remains on the front of the badge, covering the antlers and cross hatched centre of the rose, but leaving the petals white. The back is plain, with clear file marks and the scar left by a soldered loop, probably of silver, but now lost. An incomplete Post Medieval copper alloy two piece buckle frame, dating from c. AD 1660 to AD 1720. The buckle frame is broadly rectangular in plan; the short ends are rounded. There is a groove for a pin rest at the centre of either short end. The spindle and pin are missing. This type of buckle was probably used as a shoe or knee buckle. A similar example can be seen in Whitehead (2003), p 99, number 617.

The item consists of a cutting wheel at one end, and a shank which appears to have broken at its mid point. Both faces of the cutting wheel are flat with radiating grooves and ridges. A Post Medieval copper alloy dandy button dating to the 18th century. The button is circular in plan and both front and reverse faces are flat. The front face is decorated with a curvilinear design around the circumference. The reverse has a circular attachment loop at the centre. Diameter 32 mm. The front face is flat and is decorated with two concentric circles at the centre. The back is domed slightly at the centre where the attachment loop (now missing) would have been positioned. A Medieval to Post Medieval lead alloy token of Powell type 7. The token is circular in plan and is undecorated on the reverse. The front is domed or convex; the surface is very worn and there are traces of vertical and horizontal lines forming a criss-cross pattern. Some crude lead tokens of late 17th century date are illustrated in Egan (2005: p170; fig 165). However, as the Devon item did not come from a dateable archaeological context, it can only be given a broad Medieval to Post Medieval date.

At four o'clock to the sprue is a slightly flattened area, probably caused as a result of impacting against a solid surface. The surface is smooth and the patina is mid grey in colour.
