The object is an incomplete suspension loop, probably dating to the Medieval to Post Medieval period or fifteenth to seventeenth curies AD. The object is made of cast copper alloy. In plan the object comprises of a single sub-U-shaped piece of copper. Although the side arms of the object taper inwards towards one another, they are not joined together making the loop incomplete. The object is a fragment of a possible cast copper alloy strap fitting. In plan the object is sub-rectangular with one edge obliquely angled while in profile it is flat. In the centre of the object are two rivet holes, located parallel to one another. The rivet holes are sub-circular and are approximately 2.4mm in diameter. The remains of two rivets probably made of iron, are still visible in the holes. The rest of the object is missing. The object is a probable strap slide of medieval date or mid 14th to 15th century. It is made of cast copper alloy. In plan the object is sub-rectangular with a central integral external rivet. In cross-section the slide frame is sub-rectangular and the rivet is sub-circular. As an example Egan (Egan, G and Pritchard, F. 1991 Medieval Finds From Excavations in London: 3. The object is a strap fitting which Geake (Geake, H. 2001 Finds Recording Guide, Version 1.1; August 2001) attributes to the early post-medieval, or early 15th to 17th century. Geake suggests that early post-medieval mounts were either used on human dress or horse-harnesses. The object is cast copper alloy.
