The object is a fragment of a copper alloy brooch. What remains is the lower bow with the catchplate. The bow is very narrow in plan and is sub-oval in cross-section. It is 35.3mm long and 1.8mm wide, and tapers to a blunt point with no foot or decoration. The catchplate is sub-triangular with a central sub-triangular perforation. The object is a fragment from a Roman Brooch. It is made of cast copper alloy and is incomplete. What remains is the lower part of the bow. In profile the upper portion of the brooch is curvaceous. Looking at the front of the brooch, the apex of the curve is decorated by three traverse ridges, with the central ridge being considerably more pronounced than the ridges on either side.
