A copper alloy Medieval bar mount. It is a bar with central and terminal lobes, but only a fragment of one lobe is complete, the rest is missing due to old breaks. The central lobe is circular and expanded to a diameter of 8.2mm. The bar is flat-backed, and the arms taper slightly toward the terminals. The bar measures 26.56mm in surviving length and weighs 1.24g. Similar bar mounts from medieval London have a date range of c.1200 to 1350 AD. (Egan 1991, fig.134.)

The bar is separate and has been attached through perforations to the top and bottom of the frame which is offset. The bar has a circular section, and there is a pin with a collar, rectangular in section, wrapped round the bar. It tapers to a point which meets the pin-notch. The buckle measures 13.97mm in length, 24.91mm in width and weighs 2.91g.

The crown has three, triangular protrusions where the fleurs would be expected, and the tips of each of these are missing. A Medieval cast copper-alloy rotary key, probably for a casket. It has a circularbow with a circularperforation, and a solid shank with an oval cross section. The shank has a short, pointed projecting tip, The bit is rectangular with two opposing clefts to either side. The key measures 37.95mm in length and the shank is 4.26mm in width and 2.69mm in thickness.The length from the top of the stem to the base of the bit is 11.91mm. The key weighs 4.21g. Egan 1998, p.111 comments that this type of key was generally in use from c.1150-1400 AD.

A lead pot mend of irregular shape. One side is flat and approximately rectangular. There is a smaller lead plug behind this, and a fragment of medieval or later coarseware pottery can be seen sandwiched between the two layers of lead. The fabric of the pottery includes a fine quartz/quartzite temper and shows many tiny voids where tempering has been lost during firing.The pot mend measures 45.03mm in length, 37.21mm in width, 11mm in thickness and weighs 85.59g.

A copper alloy medieval annular brooch frame. The frame is faceted and has a constriction for a pin which is in situ. The pin has a ridged collar, and there are further ridges along its length which may have been formed deliberately. The poor quality of the metalwork generally, however, makes this uncertain. The pin tip is sharp and curves upward slightly where it meets the edge of the frame. The brooch measures 18.46mm in external diameter and is 2.87mm in width. It weighs 2.15g.

It is approximately rectangular with an oval section, tapering to its terminal which is curved downward. the opposite terminal is incomplete due to old breaks. The handle is smooth from wear, and measures 42.66mm in length, 19.13mm in width at its incomplete edge, 8.5mm in width at its tip, and varies in thickness from 4.35mm to 10.45mm. It weighs 38.26g. This fragment was found in association with SF-439B77, and other copper alloy fragments were also noted by the finder at the same findspot.

A cast copper alloy Medieval vessel foot fragment. It is apprximately rectangular, consisting of the foot divided into two 'paws', the underside of which is worn and irregular but sufficient survives to show that the foot is set at an angle of c.60 degrees to the horizontal. There are traces of sooting on all sides, and the foot measures 39.51mm in width and 30.16mm in surviving length. It is 15.5mm in thickness at the base, tapering to 9.75mm at its upper terminal. It weighs 73.88g.

It is rectangular with a curved, D-shaped section, and one flattened terminal reminiscent of the eraser-end of a stylus, 2.5mm thick and 12.95mm in width. The object tapers to 7.35mm in width, toward the centre, and then swells to 10.3mm, with a thickness of 7mm, before tapering to the opposite terminal which is blunt and rounded, approximately 5mm in width.. The object measures 49.28mm in length and weighs 12.65g. The metalwork is patinated and extremely corroded.

The mount is an approximately triangular shape, and has a horse's head in profile with a semi-circular crest on the top. A copper alloy Roman brooch, Colchester derivative with rear hook type. Part of the semi-cylindrical wings survive along with the rearward facing hook and upper bow. The metalwork is corroded and the surfaces are pitted, obscuring any decoration apart from a suggestion of moulding on both wings. The brooch fragment measures 16.28mm in surviving width and is 27.42m in length. The bow has a flat back, and the brooch weighs 4.32g. A date range of 40-70 AD is suggested in Blagg et al, 2004, p.93, for this type of brooch.

A complete, part-polished stone axe of Neolithic date, c.4000-2500 BC. It is oval in shape, with an oval section, and flares from the butt toward the cutting edge which is crescentic. The stone is a dense grey-green and may be from a source in the Lake District. Both faces of the axe show signs of wear, and there are areas where the surfaces are polished, running in a roughly triangular patch from the cutting edge to the centre of the axehead on both sides. The object measures 108.76mm in length, 48.20mm in width, 26.25mm in thickness and weighs 178.54g.
