A copper alloy Early Medieval strap end fragment of probable tenth to eleventh century date. It fits into Thomas' Class E category, having a distinctive tongue shape, but is incomplete due to old breaks. The rounded tongue terminal has a slight point at the centre, and the sides are parallel, with the width being 15mm. There are four perforations arranged in a square occupying most of the fragment. A copper alloy Post-Medieval trade weight of George II, 1727-60 AD. It is a circular weight with raised rim and a central circular depression outlined by an incised circumferential line. There is a crowned G at the nine o'clock position, a sword ( for London) at twelve o'clock and an A at three o'clock obscured by corrosion. The weight measures 20.85mm in diameter and weighs 6.44g ( 0.23 ounces). Fine tool marks are visible on the reverse.

The object is curvilinear, and if held in one direction, appears to be zoomorphic in design, with two curved and drooping ears above two bulging, rounded eye sockets. Both 'ears' are incomplete due to old breaks. Part of the nose or muzzle is suggested by two outward curving semi-circles, both of which are worn, the one to the left more so than on the right. The eyes sockets are deep-set for c.4mm, with an inner circle of 3.2mm and outer of 5.9mm. They may once have contained enamel, but no trace remains. …

A copper alloy Post-Medieval rowel spur fragment. It consists of one arm with terminal missing, and the neck of the spur, the latter bifurcated to take a rowel, also missing. The rounded opposing terminals of the neck are perforated , and would have held a bar for attaching the rowel, and the neck protrudes for a length of 18.8mm. The arm is D-shaped, rounded to follow the curve of a shoe, and tapers towards its incomplete terminal. It measures 69.16mm in length and weighs 12.09g.

A copper alloy Medieval or Later probable balance arm fragment. The arm has a flatened spatulate terminal which is corroded so that it is not possible to determine whether or not it is perforated. The opposite terminal is incomplete due to old breaks and the arm has a circular section. The object measures 54.43mm in surviving length and is 3.9mm in width, weighing 3.76g. Its size is commensurate with examples illustrated by Egan (1998, nos 1051, 1055) and could be part of a rigid or folding balance.

The foot is in the form of an animal's paw, with three toes beneath a horizontal collar. The foot is at an angle of c.60 degrees to the horizontal, the inner face is plain and the underside is worn. The fragment measures 31.89mm in length, 21.98mm in width, 14.8mm in thickness and weighs 44.24g.

The mount plate above the loop is triangular but incomplete due to old breaks and the upper edge is missing. There is one separate rivet at the centre near this edge. The mount measures 21.21mm in length, 9.47mm in width, and, with the ring, weighs 2.17g. The ring is faceted and measures 11.57mm in external diameter and is 2.43mm in thickness.

The bulbous part of the pommel has split, where it has been folded and compressed. Part of one rectangular-shaped wing survives and there are traces of elaborate moulded decoration on the body, arranged in panels with a triangular design. A copper alloy relief-decorated early Anglo-Saxon mount. It is rectangular, 18.82mm x 16.6mm and has a raised rim of 2mm width. It weighs 3.4g. Within the undecorated raised border is a field of relief Style I decoration. It is decorated with a criss-cross pattern formed by three incised lines intersecting at right angles and forming a chequerboard of squares, on both sides. It measures 16.27mm in surviving length, 17.68mm in width, 7mm in thickness, and weighs 9.65g. It is likely to date to the seventeenth to eighteenth centuries AD.

Within a raised rectangular linear frame is a die-stamped design of a lion passant regardant, abraded, and with traces of gilding adhering. It is incomplete due to old breaks, and consists of the upper left quadrant which has an openwork pattern, with three irregular trapezoidal holes, attached to the head and wing of a bird facing left. There is a loop perforated for suspension set at ninety degrees to the pendant. The bird is naturalistic, with a domed head, down-turned beak, long neck, pronounced breastbone and right wing raised. A copper alloy strap slide (strap-fitting) of medieval date. It is a D-shaped frame, with a collared, flattened knop on the outside edge. The inside edge has a central perforation to take a rivet (missing). The frame measures 24.42mm in length, 17.70mm in width and weighs 2.09g. A similar example from medieval London dates to the later fourteenth century. (Egan 1991).

A Medieval lead seal matrix. It is approximately circular, but is incomplete due to old breaks and possible trimming. About half of the circumference is missing to a depth of 5.8mm, and appears to have been deliberately trimmed. That part which survives is patterned with three circumferential bands of honeycomb decoration. A copper alloy Roman bow brooch. It is a Colchester derivative hinged type, with the wings folded round to form a cylinder, both terminals of which are worn. The bow is D-shaped with a central groove, and the lower terminal is missing due to old breaks. The catchplate is missing, as is the pin. The brooch measures 24.86mm in width across the wings, 19.29mm in surviving length, and weighs 2.85g. Similar examples are recorded from excavations at Hatcheston, Suffolk, see Blagg et al, 2004, fig 64, no.116. This type of brooch dates from mid-first to early second century AD.

A copper alloy Roman plate brooch. It is an Enamelled Umbonate type, decorated with a sunburst motif of two circles of triangular cells. There is a deep groove around the umbo from which four evenly-spaced peripheral lugs project . The uppermost of these is incomplete due to old breaks, and would have terminated with a chain loop. A lead probable seal matrix of Medieval or later date. The object resembles the fourteenth century matrices normally made from copper alloy. Its base is oval-shaped, 16.22mm x 13.4mm, but is smooth with no trace of a design on the surface.The sides are concave and expand to give a fan-shaped upper terminal, with a worn edge that may be incomplete. There are no traces of a perforation which would be expected at this point. The object measures 18.59mm in length and weighs 11.42g.

A cast copper alloy Post-Medieval mount, probably from a book or casket. The mount is flat with foliate mouldings, one terminal finishing with three protruding knops, the body then expanding into two larger leaves or petal shapes. A pair of curved arms , each 8.5mm x 4.2mm extend at this point. There are two rivet holes in the body of the mount, one with a rivet still in situ. There are further cut-away mouldings on the upper surface which would have allowed for gilding to adhere, but no traces are present. The mount is 30.45mm in length, 15.39mm in width, and weighs 3.08g.

A lead cloth seal of Post-Medieval date. It is a two-part seal, with the discs now fused together, along with the rivet and the joining loop folded over on to the surface of one disc. The outer surface of the other disc has a small circular perforation near the circumference. It has an incised line defining the diameter, crossed at right angles by two other lines, on either side of the perforation. The disc measures 22.37mm in diameter and weighs 10.18g.

A complete copper alloy thimble of sixteenth century date. The rim is oval in shape and unthickened, and the sides slope gently in to a flattish, gently rounded top. The indentations form a spiral which continues right around the top of the thimble. They are extremely worn around the rim, part of which appears to be unpitted. The thimble measures 20.02mm in height, 19.88mm x 16.95mm at the rim, and weighs 5.77g.

A circular lead cloth seal fragment of seventeenth to eighteenth century date. It consists of one disc with a fragment of connecting strip, but the second disc is missing due to old beaks. There are traces of decoration on one face, with a pellet border surviving around part of the circumference, and a cluster of pellets forming a daisy motif near the centre. This appears to be above an applied T shape, with a small star to the left. The disc measures 18.58mm in diameter, 1.33mm in thickness, and weighs 3.77g.

One half of a two-part cast copper alloy saddle pommel of Post-Medieval date. It is complete, with a bulbous semi-circular profile which terminates with a short knop. The pommel is cut away on the diagonal at the opposite terminal, with an extending wing pierced with a nail hole. Adjacent to this is half of a second nail hole preserved in the side edge of the wing. The pommel is decorated with paired engraved lines radiating from the knop, and also outlining the edges of the object. It measures 57.81mm in length, 32.12mm in width, 3.35mm in thickness and weighs 33.5g.
