Object type: INTAGLIO
Broad period: MODERN
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An intaglio of probably Modern date. It is made from pale green glass and is oval in shape, with an inscribed device. It is uncertain what the device is intended to depict. There may be two arms or wings with a head above and a horizontal bar below, but these do not suggest a classical figure. Intaglios such as this were popular items during the 18th and 19th centuries when they were utilised on seals and fobs. The object measures 11.11mm in length, 8.17mm in width, 1.58mm in thickness and weighs 0.24g.
