A copper alloy nail or stud head of probable Roman date. The head is almost globular, measuring 8.18mm in diameter, and the shaft is circular in section. It measures 23.08mm in length, and there is a slight recession of the shaft at 7.5mm from its lower terminal, where it narrows in diameter from 5.05mm to 4.14m. I it weighs 4.37g. Its most likely function was in connection with furniture upholstery.

Two copper alloy nails of unknown date, but probably Post-Medieval. The are both square-sectioned, with flat heads and curving shanks, and both are incomplete at the tip due to old breaks. One measures 45.52mm in length with a shank width of c.2.9mm and weight of 3.82g. The second is 26.97mm in length, 3.4mm in width, weighing 1.98g.

a copper alloy nail of probable Roman date. It has a solid, dome-shaped head which is worn, and may have had a flat band beneath the dome, 8.73mm in diameter and 8.45mm in height. The shaft is polygonal and tapers towards a worn point. The shaft measures 20.45mm in length, and the pin weighs 3.29g. It is most likely to be a furniture upholstery nail, and similar examples from Roman Colchester are illustrated in Crummy, 1983, (nos 2995, 3002)

a copper alloy Roman probable upholstery nail, or stud. It is 30.89mm in length, with a rectangular cross-section to the shaft, the terminal of which is curved, flattened off and incomplete. The shaft is 3.45mm in thickness, and the incomplete terminal measures 2.1mm in width. The nail has a domed head, 7.09mm in diameter. It weighs 2.12g. Similar nails or studs have been found from Roman Colchester.
