an incomplete copper alloy Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends, folded wing ends type, Eastern Group), AD 40-70. Semi-cylindrical wings folded round to form short enclosed sections at either end, but axis bar missing. Rearward facing hook in centre, but spring chord missing. Width across wings is 29.28mm, and the folded ends are 5mm wide. The bow has a faceted back and the moulded front is ribbed. There are traces of white metal on the front surfaces. A copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester-derivative Polden Hill type (folded wing ends, Eastern Group). The short wings are folded round to form enclosed sections at both ends, which are 4.25mm wide. The width of the brooch across the wings is 21.54mm. There is a rearward facing hook to hold the spring chord and there are 6 coils, with an incomplete pin 10mm in length. The bow has been bent round out of shape, and measures 40.85mm in length. A copper alloy Roman bow brooch. It is a Colchester derivative Polden Hill type, with folded wing ends similar to Hacheston no.77 (Plouviez 2004, 94-5, fig.63). The pin, spring and catchplate are missing, as is the axis bar. Part of the backward facing hook survives. The flaps at the wing ends are 6.75mm in width and there are diagonal and vertical grooves decorating the outside of the wings.
