A Medieval lead ampulla fragment. It is the lower part of a pouch-shaped vessel, and as such is an oval shape. The obverse has moulded transverse lines decorating a narrow border around the outside edge, and the central field is plain, except for an emblem of a similar pouch shape, shaded with cross-hatching. The reverse has a scallop shell design. The upper part of the ampulla is missing due to old breaks. The object measures 35.54mm in length, 29.71mm in width, 5.62mm in thickness and weighs 27.78g.
This example is similar to one illustrated in Mitchiner 1986, no.404, which comes from Norfolk.

A copper alloy Roman snake bracelet fragment. It is incomplete due to old breaks and consists of the band, which is bent out of shape and a snake's head terminal. The latter is flattened and oval, 2.74mm in width and 15.64mm in length. The surface of the metal is very worn, and some decorative elements exist upon the head but are difficult to determine, beyond the two eyes and tongue closest to the tip of the terminal. The band is circular in section, 1.65mm wide and the surviving length (bent) of the fragment is 45.57mm. It weighs 2.9g. This form of bracelet dates from the mid 1st to 4th century, although the snake's head type is more common in the second or third centuries. Two other examples from Suffolk are recorded on the PAS database.

A cast copper alloy Medieval or Post Medieval vessel fragment. It is part of an arm from a tripod ewer, pitcher or cauldron, and would have formed an angled link between the body of the vessel and its rim. A similar arm would have matched it on the opposite side of the vessel, and a handle for suspension would have been attached through both arms. ( Egan 1998, fig131, no.446).
The fragment includes a flat rectangular surface that would have been soldered to the vessel body, and a length of rectangular shank which leaves the plate at an angle of 30 degrees. The fragment measures 38mm in overall lengthand 13.07mm in width, with the shank measuring 10.04mm x 9.69mm. It weighs 20.07g.

A sheet copper alloy Post Medieval book clasp, 1550-1700 AD. It is complete but bent and folded, damaged whilst in the ground. It is a rectangular plate, the central section having indented edges. There is a ring and dot at the centre of the plate, and the upper surface is covered with tiny circular stamps. These are arranged in bands of two rows at each short edge and then randomly across the clasp. There are also tiny sun motif stamps, punched dots and rocker decoration. There is a curved hook at the centre of one short edge, and a curved hinge at the other which may contain the remains of a pin. The clasp measures 33.47mm in its present, compacted state, but is estimated to have been 35.9mm in length. A sheet copper alloy Post-Medieval hooked mount. It has a trefoil terminal with a rivet hole in the upper foil, and a further rivet at the centre between the two lower foils. The mount expands into a small knopped plate before tapering to a hook. This bends backwards to form an almost-enclosed loop, from which a ring is suspended. The latter is faceted and flattened, and there are traces of a white metal coating on both sides of the mount.
It measures 40.4mm in length and is 15mm in maximum width. The hook is 4mm in width and the ring is 11.5mm in diameter and 2.5mm in width. The mount weighs 4.48g. It is most likely a sword-belt fitting, and a similar hooked mount is noted in Margeson 1993, fig.22 no.259.

A copper alloy Medieval armorial stud. It is shield-shaped with a large integral shank centrally placed on the reverse. The front face bears a lion rampant, but apart from the tail, not much can be seen because of the corrosion of the metalwork. The stud plate is small, 17.8mm in length, 13.88mm in width and weighing 5.36g. The shank extends at right angles for a length of 8.5mm and is rectangular in section. A copper alloy Post-Medieval animal bell. It is complete but the metal is worn and there are patches of corrosion. The bell is composed of two conjoined hemispheres with a central ridge, with sound holes on opposite sides and a small, flat loop for suspension on the top. The lower hemisphere is cleft with the opening expanded into two more circular sound holes. The bell is decorated on the lower hemisphere with looping incised lines, but the pattern is obscured by corrosion. A mark representing a founder's hammer can be seen within a semi-circle, near the opening on one side. The 'pea' probably made of lead, is in tact within the bell cavity. It also includes two short lengths of projecting arms both of which are heavily moulded, the decoration suggesting abstract animal head terminals. The central 'box' is incised all over with cross-hatched lines on one side, but with only a pair of parallel lines on the other. The top of the box is flat, and the lower terminal has curving shoulder sloping inwards. The purse bar fragment measures 43.57mm in length, 16.46mm in width, 10.43mm in thickness and weighs 22.74g. A date from the fifteenth to sixteen th century for this type of purse is suggested.

A copper alloy Medieval buckle frame and plate. The frame is D-shaped and faceted, with the bar offset and narrowed, with thickened knops to top and bottom. A shield-shaped plate is attached to the bar, and is recessed to top and bottom to accommodate the knops on the bar. There is a pin-slot, but the pin is now missing. The plate wraps around the bar, and fixes with two rivets, parts of which are still in situ. One of the rivet holes is incomplete due to old breaks. Another larger rivet is in situ near the centre outside edge. There are traces of incised line decoration outlining the plate, including some rocker patterning. A copper alloy Early Medieval pin with incomplete shaft, the lower part of which is missing due to old breaks. The head is globular and flattened on the top. As the metalwork is very worn, it is not possible to be certain whether the pin head was originally faceted. There is no trace of decoration on the head, and there is a narrow, raised transverse collar at the join of head and shaft. Beneath the collar the shaft is circular in section and 2.0mm in diameter. The object measures 11.35mm in overal length, 8.29mm in width across the head, and weighs 2.49g. A probable date in the middle Anglo-Saxon period, the 8th-9th centuries AD, is suggested.

A copper alloy Early Medieval pin with incomplete shaft, the lower part of which is missing due to old breaks. The head is polyhedral in form (a cuboid with the corners cut off), rectangular in section and has thirteen faces. These are undecorated, and there is a narrow, raised transverse collar at the join of head and shaft. Beneath the collar the shaft is circular in section and 1.9mm in diameter. The object measures 15.89mm in overal length, 9.66mm in width across the head, and weighs 4.28g. A similar pin also from Sutton is recorded at SF-57AED1, and another is noted in West, 1998: no. 128.5. A probable middle Anglo-Saxon date range in the 8th-9th centuries AD is suggested.
