Piece of Hertfordshire puddingstone quern, of probably first century, Roman date. It is a solid domed shape, 84mm in height at the centre, and 50% of the stone is present, with an estimated diameter of 340mm. The quern weighs 5830g. At the centre of the broken section of the quern is the funnel-shaped aperture, through which the grain would have been fed, 44.2mm in diameter at the top, approximately 15mm in the centre and 31.5mm at the bottom of the quern.
