a probable Roman iron double spiked loop.It has been bent at right angles into an L-shape, with a loop, filled with corrosion at one terminal and the two arms terminating with spiked ends. The arms are separate from each other but corroded together. The object measures 57.36mm in length, from loop terminal to the right-angle bend, and is 21.12mm wide across the loop. The arms are 6.56mm and 6.84mm in width, and the object weighs 33g.
Whilst it ressembles double spiked loops from Hatcheston (Blagg et al, 2004, nos 291 etc) it does seem to be deliberately bent in half, unlike the others…
