A handle sherd of Roman pottery. The fabric is cream coloured with a fine sandy temper. The rim sherd is rolled longitudinally with a deep groove along its centre, and a pronounced thumb-mark at one end where it starts to broaden for attachment to a vessel. The size would suggest that this rim belonged to a large flagon or a small amphora. It measures 75.37mm in length, 40.85mm in width and weighs 66.72g.

A group of Roman potsherds. They are mostly shell-tempered, and include three rims, two from jars, one of these with a neck. There is also one base and nine body sherds. The fabric is soft with a soapy feel, with some sherds having lost their shell-temper through over-firing, with half of them reduced and half oxidised. One bowl rim is inturned in white grit temper and black burnished surfaces. Shell-tempered wares in Suffolk from the South Midland production sites tend to date to the 3rd to 4th centuries AD.
